About sums it up. Glad he isn't coming back, especially breaking in a new OL
Haynes King's mobility in the pocket and on the run should be a huge help with the new OL.

As long as he doesn't get hurt. I hope he puts some weight on, he is a twig currently.

King is going to be special....like the first good Bama QB under Saban
Coach's son
Never lost
State champion
Fast as Johnny
Can drop dimes
Perfect QB frame - really long arms
Kid is humble as frick
Watch his 2018 highlights - JFF who?

King lost two whole games in high school. Two

I'm not saying he won't be good, I think he will be. Just saying I hope he doesn't get hurt having to scramble and extend plays behind a fresh OL with limited options at OT currently.

Kenyon Green and Layden Robinson will anchor it down. Hopefully we get to see the next great Offensive line develop next season.

It's a weird feeling to be appreciative of what he did for A&M and what he accomplished during his time here while also being relieved that he is heading to the NFL.
Yep. Appreciate the games he won, including our best bowl win since the natty in 39, but also glad he’s going to move on to the NFL.
I think this was the best decision for all parties. Mond goes out on top as a NY6 bowl winner and we can move on to the next generation of QB.
Let’s be honest, if he had come back for another season and won fewer games and not made a NY6 bowl or better again, the fan base that’s already divided over him would’ve turned more against him.
And I’ll still say I think he’s at his ceiling, another year of college isn’t going to help him out draft position or otherwise.

Hocker announced he's going pro
Posted on 1/7/21 at 2:15 pm to NanosTacoRun
Was really hoping Hocker would stay. Carson Green is the last of the 4 OL to announce and I can't imagine he would stay. Next year could be a bit rough breaking in 4 new OL and a new QB.

This Orange Bowl win was not better than any of our Cotton Bowl wins. A step above the Peach vs Duke is as high as I'd rank it.
(ranking order = AP-Coaches-BCS)
'41 Cotton - 13-12 over #12 Fordham (7-1) - beating an Eastern power was a big deal at the time LINK
'68 Cotton - 20-16 over #8/7 Alabama (8-1-1) - Bear carries Stallings off the field LINK
'86 Cotton - 36-16 over #16/15 Auburn (8-3) - Tigers had Heisman winner Bo Jackson LINK
'88 Cotton - 35-10 over #12/12 Notre Dame (8-3) - had Heisman winner Tim Brown LINK
'13 Cotton - 41-13 over #12/12/11 Oklahoma (10-2) - put a cherry on top of our move from the Big 12 LINK

For what it means on a national scale, I'd put it ahead of every bowl game except the '40 Sugar, '41 Cotton and '13 Cotton.

I guess but that was an epic game thread. Made it a lot more fun to watch. I think Tmc and me posted every cat gif on the internet that night.

Technically the Cotton Bowl in 13 wasn’t a BCS bowl and the Orange is an NY6.

Technically sure.
But OU was ranked higher and is a much bigger brand name, they didn't have most of their offense opt, there was much more hype b/c of Johnny and the A&M vs Big 12 angle, and it was on FOX instead of ESPN which gave it a bigger audience of 11.2 million vs 7.58 million.

The Orange Bowl is bigger no matter how you slice it.

Yup. That Cotton Bowl didn't feel "big". It was a good game, but it was no Sugar Bowl (which Florida got).

Disagree.
NY6 > non NY6 it’s as simple as that. Team rankings, views, whatever, doesn’t matter. There’s the BCS/NY6 bowls and then there’s the rest. Cotton wasn’t one until CFP started a few years back.

Seriously, the interview that TexAgs had with Mond is great. He's going to interview well for the draft, and be drafted higher than some believe

The Cotton was one of the major bowls until the Big 12 was created. Don't really care that it wasn't a so called NY6 for the 2012 season when it became one the a little over a year later Considering the ranking of the teams involved and the star power on the field it was functionally a NY6 that season. Also, a big game is a big game. If there was a NY6 that had a team w/a mediocre record in it I wouldn't consider it a big game anymore like when a 6-4-1 Notre Dame made the Fiesta Bowl in 1995. It was a Bowl Alliance game but ND was shite and shouldn't have been there. A forced label doesn't mean much at the end of the day. Kind of like how I'm never going to called our Peach Bowl the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Was it technically that name in our year? Sure. But it was still the Peach Bowl.
