Hansford needed more tape for the NFL. That helps tremendously to add some experience to a young LB group. Next season will now be ENTIRELY dependent on the OL

And QB. We can't act like we KNOW that King will get it done.

Yup. King is a huge wild card. Jimbo is going to have his hands full trying to mold him into a good QB. I just don't buy into the TexAgs hype for King. From what I've read, he played QB in HS a lot like Mond did; No downfield vision and not much of deep threat.

His career is TBD IMO. I'm not buying the hype just yet.

King threw downfield a LOT in high school. And the way I look at it is this. The OL is what is important. King cannot possibly be worse than Mond, and if so - we have Calzada.

Mond completed 63% of his passes with a 19/3 TD/INT ratio. King can be a hell of a lot worse than that.

It's like some people didn't even watch our games this year

Seriously. Mond was not a bad QB. He did a very good job taking care of the football, taking what the defense gave, and kept the chains moving. Sure he’s not hitting huge chunk plays constantly, but he lead this offense. King is most likely going to be worse than Mond as a whole next season. He’ll have different strengths and weaknesses, but any first time starter usually struggles, especially playing behind an inexperienced line.

Why do some of you insist on viewing Mond at only his very worst as if he is still a true freshman QB?

He played really well this year in all but 2 games and both of those bad games were still wins.

I don't think that is true. His numbers in HS were way better than Mond's numbers. They were crazy good his junior year. He did have a rough spot his senior year, but he has very little help, and I think he was injured.

This is based on what I've read on him.

Well, it's not true.

Mond was 99-178 (.556) his senior year, with 19 and 3 and 757 rushing yards.

King was 400-655 (.611) in three years as the starter, with a 82 TDs and 17 ints. He rushed for 1400 yards in his career.

Why are you comparing 1 year to 3? Their SR year aren’t worlds different. King’s JR was where it was at though.

For whatever reason, Mond just doesn't like to throw it downfield. He also picks the receivers that he wants to throw the ball to, and doesn't really make it past his primary read very often

King can actually read the defense at a similar level as a true freshman. He's going to be great with reps.

There is no way you can know that. In his very limited play he didn’t make a bunch of reads.

I think he’s got a ton of potential. I think he can be great. I’m just not sold he’s going to be great out of the gate.

O really think McGee said it best about Mond. If he gets what he expects from the defense and his first read is there he is very good. If the defense does something different than what he expects he is very inconsistent.

I compared Mond's best year to all three of King's years. King was hurt his senior year but played through it. Ignore the other two years, if you want, but that's stupid.

My information comes from the team ... King is already the expected QB by the team itself. It will be interesting to watch
