EDITED.... Per Cecil Hurt

quote:

Per Dennis Dodd, Kevin Steele is no longer being considered for the head coaching position and, per Auburn Undercover, neither is Steve Sarkisian who did not interview this weekend as expected.

The Auburn job has been turned down 4 or 5 times now. Auburn getting desperate.

I'm fine with Sark at Auburn, won't be hard to beat.

Not surprising...and I imagine Saban encouraged him to interview. If I recall correctly, Saban encouraged Smart to interview there when Chizik was fired, saying it would be a good experience/opportunity for him...

I mean, that's the biz. I'm just worried about not having an OC during the playoffs. There needs to be something in these contracts to safeguard against it.

The Alabama OC is a more high profile job than Auburn head coach.

Oh stop it. We've had coaches staying and coach through playoff. Kiffin is only one who didn't.

As if this wasn't the plan all along. Tenn, uga, barn, etc. You name it everyone in the sec is trying to bring Saban down. The only way they can do it is go after his staff.

Its worked frankly... Saban got to keep his staff for one year, and he's going to win a title, and a recruiting title. The sec isn't going to let him keep his staff intact.

I would really like it if Sark and Flood are at Alabama next year to rebuild the offense and hand it off to someone else in 2022.

The biggest difference there is that Smart had never been a head coach, Sark has been at two big time spots already. I doubt he interviews just for experience sake.

Damnit. Can we not have one playoff run without a distraction?

I think Sark is a good coach and would do well at Auburn. He’s someone I was hoping would be possibility whenever Saban retired.

Pretty much this. These guys are mercenaries for the most part, and he would be dumb not to interview. And I’m sure Saban has told him to interview and check out the opportunity.

I mean those assistants are 0-23 against him. Definitely working out great

I understand but don't like it until recruiting season is all completely over with.
Not that we don't have a great class and maybe Wheaton and Thomas go else-were.
But if your not gonna take it and we are 50/50 with two more top offensive kids.
When both may be on the fence.
I would have rather you wait as that gives the two main schools something to use..
Also the DT (JT) maybe felt good knowing stark was gonna be there even-though it's the opposite side of the ball as he is the kids main recruiter..One other-thing is if your AU and your gonna hire Huh Freeze and keep steel why interview Stark !.

Disappointing to hear. I mean, we have our two biggest traditional rivals poaching Saban coordinators. Hopefully if the Barn gets Sark that it goes as well as Pruett has for Tennessee.

The playoffs after the 14 season was distraction free. Both coordinators came back the next year. That was the only year Bama lost in the Semifinals.
