With the way this year has gone and this being Auburn, it isn't out of the question.

I'm not saying there isn't a booster who wants Steele. Not even saying he didn't get an interview.
But somehow the collective group got together and got us Pearl...and they recently fired Gus. I choose to believe the powers that be learned from the Chizik and Gus hires (irony, I know), and I don't believe they are the nincompoops they are being portrayed as in the media.
Bama and Georgia spread a lot of disinformation during the 2010 campaign, and I can't believe they aren't doing the same now.
A week from now, I'll bet we end up in a better spot than we were a week ago.

I have alerts set and skim the internet. So take what I am posting with a grain of salt. Just killing time and doing the work for all of you f5 types that keep hitting refresh. Latest. Harbert/Rane want 1. Steele then 2. Stark. AG wants Cristobal, and has raised the funds, but MC will be expensive. Was wanting to come. PAC championship game happened and he paused. O countered. Unknown current status. In the mean time Harbert/Rane have been swinging their weight behind Steele. This would explain all of the conflicting info.

The Big Money don't have a clue about what makes a good coach if this is who they want. They might as well have kept Gus and let the program go down the drain as hire a HC with awful or no HCing experience.
I think most of this is just people who don't have a clue or trying to get subscribers making up crap. They most likely had a list and top 2 or 3 realistic choices (if not a deal almost done) before they fired Gus.
