Not sure we did that yet but we definitely didn’t fire Gus for Cristobal

I still don't think we fired Gus for Steele, but I do believe we fired Gus without a clear replacement agreed upon, and I'm just as annoyed by that

I liked Gus and was a Gus supporter. Now that the line is cut it was time to move on. I thought he would get one more year and probably had a good season but we would have remained where we were. Competing for the SEC west every 3-4 years with 1 of the down years being around 500 in the conference. Is anyone going to do any better? I have no idea but I doubt it but for the fans sake it was time for a change. Now get a good coach. Let him run the show and get out of the way.

Since money seems no problem stop sticking bandaids on the stadium and do a full make over. Build the football facility. Money has been pouring into the university over the past 10 years so if you want to compete for championships ever year you better be willing to fund it.

I feel it if they said they we're working on an extension pre-covid, said a couple of days ago they we're starting conversations again, announced their meeting for the extension, and announced the terms for the extension... it might be to time to admit its over lol.

I agree I would say Cristobal is off the list of coaches available now.

We throw MC a lot of money and let him go 3-2 (like he is IN THE PAC 12 playing teams with a total of 10-14 record). What a melt

He should send Auburn some Christmas money for thanks for the raise.

6 yr/ $27.3 M would not be hard for any SEC school to beat, I did like the clause that incentivizes him to win, for each 9 win season it gets extended a year.

Though this language would suck and not sure there is anything more left coast than this :
quote:

“If athletic department revenues generated from non-philanthropic sources (includes all revenue streams other than gifts/donations from UO Foundation) are reduced by at least 15%, based on the previous 5 fiscal years rolling average established by University documents, due to an unforeseeable natural disaster, war, riot, pandemic, public health emergency, NCAA directive, government order, or other catastrophe beyond the control of the University, University and Coach may enter into good faith discussions regarding a temporary reduction to Coach’s Guaranteed Salary. ...

quote:

“If the good faith negotiations do not result in an agreement within 4 weeks, University shall be entitled to implement a temporary reduction to Guaranteed Salary, which shall not exceed 15% or be for greater than a 12-month period.”

I don't know which would be worse, that we offered MC good money and he turned us down for less to stay at Oregon, or that we didn't offer MC good money.

It’s easier to win at Oregon than it is here. Nationally, they are at least as recognizable as we are. If he turned it down, it’s easily understandable to me.

I don't believe this shite. I won't believe this shite. I can't believe this shite. If true, I have lost all respect for the Football program. $21mm to fire Gus to hire Steele makes zero sense in any universe. FFS, if this is where the program is at, why would the fan base support this monkey show?

So the facts right now:

- Cristobal has stated he has trust in the UO administration
- The extension figures have been released and the BOT is voting on it on Thursday
- Cristobal has not signed anything yet

To me it sounds like nothing has changed since yesterday.

Exactly. Not one thing has changed. Honestly to me it’s sounds like we just need to wait at this point.

I think this escapade went down something like this:

The PTB were tired of Gus and decided they were going to fire him. They'd agreed in principle with Cristobal. Things began to fall apart with Cristobal so they decided on Steele. The backlash has caught them off guard and they're scrambling to find someone else. I do think there's likely a power struggle going on and some money people still do want Steele. Hopefully, public opinion will bolster and strengthen the power of those that oppose Steele.
