Then one day Deloss Dodds said they would not play us anymore. We pleaded but he said no. He said the Thanksgiving Day game would be played every year in Austin with Texas Tech and TCU alternating.
This just reeks of insecurity on your part. Let me guess, they also weren’t your rival, correct?

We responded that we would play them anytime, anywhere but he declined.
Right. This is exactly how it went down. There’s definitely not another side to the story.

Yeah, the Egg Bowl was played on Thanksgiving for years. They said they were bringing it back and have the last 3 years. I think Covid has more to do with the change this year but I could be wrong.

The best rivalry game on Thanksgiving used to be Texas-Texas A&M.

The Wizard of Oz is on TBS. Smoke a bowl and relax.

For real. Bring back the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving night. Tonight's schedule sucks.

I believe I am correct in that A&M vs Texas was a T-Day game back in the late 50's and early 60's. Lindsey Nelson was a great announcer. Yes, I am old.
I'm also old too....62

Didn't LSU and Texas AM use to play on thanksgiving?
Yea they played twice in College Station in 2014 and 2016 on Thanksgiving night until LSU basically told A&M we're not their Texas now(except for the owning)

For a while in the 2000’s this game was on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It alternated with Colorado-Nebraska for a 10 AM time slot.
The year the Ags were on probation, UT played Baylor on Turkey Day. I wanna say that was 1994.

It may reek of insecurity.
But it’s true.
Google it, if you’re interested
(you aren’t; I don’t blame you).

I'll give y'all a Geezers reference. I remember watching next day highlights of Notre Dame games with Lindsey Nelson doing commentary. They'd come on in the morning, before the NFL games.
Not quite as dated...I remember going to a couple of LSU - Arkansas games on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

My first 4 years of undergrad (85-88), the game was on T-day.

The main reason is because the NFL dominates.
