Took a peek at Hogville...

Decided to wander over to Hogville to see how the asylum fans are doing, at first glance I see:
A thread about converting KJ Jefferson to a full back.
A back and forth disagreement between two posters on the weather for College Station next weekend.
Man, I am glad this board exists. That is all.

Agree. I wish there was more activity on here.
But then again, if there was, it would probably turn into Hogville 2.0
I just cant stand all the sunshine pumpers over there. You arent allowed to question the coaches at all...the coach can do no wrong (according to the mods) until about 10 minutes before he is fired, then its burn him at the stake. Seen it time and time again

The 247 board is very active, and it's especially heavy on SEC/Arkansas news and recruiting but there's no edge to it like the Rant or even shite show local team threads. Cussing is banned. Any hint of political observations are crushed like Red China, and there is a bit of Hogville flare, but not nearly to the dumbassery/yokel extent.
You kind of get what you get. Otis and Irwin are the stars on Hogville, while Biddy and Danny West are the stars on 247.
Very different tone between the two, but the entire TD site is league's more entertaining than anything else out there.

247 is the place to go for info. The Rant is the place to go for fun. The crying on all Arkansas message boards about dissenting opinion and politics makes them all unbearable at the end of the day.

Allow me to use this opportunity to explain to those of you who negativily associate me with Hogville
I'm one of the most hated posters those admins and most mods ever experienced. That was the point. A Robin Hood type troll I guess. Standing up to prideful dumbassery to provide entertainment to friends meek and mild, along with buddies PWJ, OTR, Rev, etc, i.e. most of the Tavern guys - Jack and OTR are/were actually cousins in real life, hilarious dudes
After Harry Rex was banned I created a few more accounts periodically (all banned in due time except for one last one) and kept up with my buddies and kept trolling the folks and admins who deserved to be trolled - hateful old bastards and mamas boys who would report us for making them look stupid on MMQB, admins who ban you for making them look stupid, etc
My buddy OTR died in July and I've not been back - not the same without him

Whaaaaaat! Didn't know the guy died, that's crazy.
Wasn't he just playing a character on there basically, and was actually a pretty highly educated "normal" guy?
His schtick was funny at first, but between he and Pondwater it started to get a little far fetched and corny

Honestly, there are no kids using message boards. Haven't really been for years. And even if there were, so what? I used message boards when I was 13, saw all kinds of colorful language. Language I already learned in grade school. I understand the porn, but you can't shield children from crass language, and it shouldn't really matter of adults use it. Language being strictly filtered is nothing but a power trip.
The thing with Bert/Bret really highlights the whole problem with that place. There were legitimate gripes that could be aired in a therapeutic way about Bielema. They weren't allowed until Lanny decided he was fed up. Same with Chad.
The stringent moderation isn't as bad as the hypocrisy. I also get really tired of people in their 50s and 60s who don't bother to learn the ins and outs of how to interact on the Internet, and all those people seem to flock to hogville.

I use to be a member on hogville and then I decided to be a troll not once but twice.
The first time I was an insider claiming to have sources of Petrino being interested in the Florida job that was open at the time back in 09. I told them that I'm in the living room with Petrino right now and that he was interested in the Florida job.
The thread went for a wild ride with some posters starting to get worried that the sources were true. Others were in denial but it did last four pages until I was banned.
The second time, I impersonated as an Ole Miss fan. My handle was rebel devil and with a picture of Houston Nutt. Then I told them I was an illiterate fan with an eighth grade education from Gator, Mississippi. I told them that I worked at the sawmill and I needed help turning on the computer. I said I loved me some Houston Nutt and I wanted Hogville to know that.
I miss spelled all of my posts on purposes and while I don't remember all the responses, it was absolutely hilarious because they certainly didn't like all that Nutt love. Then I was banned a second time.

I actually did have a Carl Lee Hailey account there, and a Lucien Wilbanks account, both for like 2 days before the fun police realized they were more John Grisham character names and zapped them into oblivion.

I hang in both places, but stay away from discussing much of anything except broad ideas.
