I finally get to start another thread since there's something I actually look forward to discussing on here.
.......

It's 8:00pm Saturday, the game's over, and you're feeling pretty good about our prospects this season. What did you see during the game?

For me it's simple:

1. Dawgs ran the ball well.

2. QB play was mistake free + decision making & downfield passing were consistently solid. I already know Mathis has the athleticism.

3. D was dominant.

That's the recipe this season, and I'm speaking it all into existence.

Go Dawgs & yay football!

I mean, that’s what every team in the top 15 wants to see....

I am looking more into our Oline rotation and how the 2nd team linebackers go. Also would like to see our kicker look confident and drill every attempt and hopefully a long one to check the range.

Last, want to see a pickup on special teams for returns. It’s where the game can be won or lost, especially against the top10 and SECCG and playoffs.

My expectations are to feel like we took a step back after this first game, but know that’s just the pessimist in me after an easy W

I'd like to be less predictable/ more creative play calling. See pulling guards and power running. And maybe a tad bit more aggressiveness from our D...sometimes you can't simply line up and out-talent the opponent.

I'll add- play to our talent. Don't put Cook in and run the same plays White runs. Feel this has been somewhat of a problem dating back to CMR.

Wanna see our veteran skill guys on offense step up,D'Rob,Kearis,James Cook and even Tommy Bush will be the key to our offensive "explosiveness"
early in the season IMO.

Also interested to see how Owen Condon does starting at RT.

1. We win obviously

2. How well zeus and company run the ball. I'm assuming mathis will be our qb. He will need help

3. A reliable reciever other than pickens

4. Mathis making great decisions with the ball

5. Not worried about the defense, hoping to see domination

6. Discipline on both sides of the ball

I’m expecting a 2-3 touchdown win. They have us at -26 or -24. I dunno if we cover that.

1) more explosive plays. I dont care if it is run or pass or both. I didnt like the Vandy game last year. Every drive was a grind.

2) more havoc on defense. TFL and Turnovers. Preferably 8+. Sadly, anything over 6 would be an improvement over 2019.

3) Win special teams.

I'm really hoping that we can be a better team than 2017 on the 2020 season.
5.5 TFL per conference game
1.5 turnovers per conference game
87% completion from hotrod
44 average yards per punt
27 rushing TDs against the conference
15 passing TDs against the conference
34.6 PPG

Better than 2017 will give us the prize we need.

I like your thinking but I think mistake free QB play is a tall order for a Freshman QB.
I expect Pittman to be leading the Hogs in the right direction but they don't have the level of talent that we do. So I'm expecting to win by a couple of TDs and hopefully no serious injuries.

I want to see the defense look like they did in 2017.

I want the offense to not be absolutely frustrating to watch like they were last year.

Just want to be excited about the offense again.

I'm not expecting them to be in mid-season stride, and I'm sure there will be some mistakes will a brand-new system, but I sure hope there are some flashes of brilliance (as opposed to the awkward Vandy opener last season).

Sacks! And a bunch of them. We have to start getting to the qb and not just playing gap control.

I want to look at the stats and see 250 yds rushing with 2 TDs, White getting 125 yds and Cook 75 yds.
Mathis throwing for 275 yds and 2 TDs and running for 50 yds and a TD. Defense gets 3 sacks and 3 INTs.
No injuries for either team.
As cool as it will be we should see no cramping for either team.

I'll be happy if we can keep our players away from serious illness and injury while they destroy Auburn and Florida with improved offense.
