Red Rocket is great.
It is just a weird quirky funny look at life of small town America. Yes, it’s dark. But feels extremely authentic.

Regardless of flavor, frozen pop-tarts are super underrated

The Matrix is made of two different movies. Dark City and Blade.

I would never post this story on Facebook
“As easy as taking candy from a baby”
Posted by athenslife101 on 12/22/25 at 7:46 pm
Probably originated by someone who never had to take candy from a baby.
There I was today at Costco. And at the checkout lane I was behind a little Asian couple with the most adorable little Asian baby who was bear hugging a giant jar of peanut M&Ms.
We start to check out and that baby is doing damn ninja moves to keep the mother from taking that jar. I heard him scream “nooo.”
Meanwhile the Costco employees are trying to sneak up behind the baby to wring up the jar from behind.
Then the baby tries to DJ Metcalf the mother. Solid right hook.
Finally they trick the baby away from the jar and the parents decide they no longer wish to buy the candy

Compared to other large cities I've lived in you can get in and out of downtown after an event fairly easily
Not sure I agree with that. Now I have paid $$$ to be able to leave quickly. But there’s been a few times, especially recently that have been miserable.
My car didn’t move for an hour after the Georgia Florida game.
Taking an uber from the area afterwards is impossible
I’m curious to check out the upgrades done recently with the opening of the new park

Yeah, I didn’t even mention Hanna Park which might be the best water I’ve seen and then you have little Talbot island and then all the fish camps northeast of the city. Always love going out there

Oh boy…
No love for Green Room, Dog Soldiers, or When Evil Lurks?
I’d easily put those over a lot of your high recommends. Just to add a different perspective

The perception of Jacksonville is unique because it’s so spread out, the “centralized” downtown area seems empty of people.
What do you go to downtown for?
You have events at Daly Crnter, Florida theater, Vystar Area, the performance arts center. You have sporting events at Vystar, everbsnk, and the shrimp stadium.
Want nice high end restaurants and your high density luxury apartments, San Marco across the river.
Want shopping, 15 minutes south to town center and a more suburban feel
Want a residential beach, go to Atlantic beach. Want a nice beach are , go to Neptune beach. Want a slightly trashy beach, go to Jax beach. Want a rich beach area, go to Ponte Vedra (technically not in Jacksonville but just by semantics). Also have been enjoying recently going to Ponte Vedra concert hall which was just redone.
That’s not even including Riverside, or really much of anything west of the river which I spend no time.
Sure, there are shitty areas of the city. But I don’t spend time in those areas.
If you can’t find things to do, you’re not trying.
Also, fishing is everywhere and great fish camps everywhere for people who don’t fish.

Good movie. I’m not sure who the target audience is though.
The satire seemed to go over the heads of a lot of people on here.
