My good friends of the SEC family if I may take a moment of your time. I know you give people hell for length but...I’m 62, Auburn donor for let’s just say 30 plus years. I have had the honor of visiting each of your campuses a number of times during my life. First time in Athens I was 13 in 1971. Family in Monroe, Social Circle. Red Stick... family off Highland road area since I was born. You are not a man until you tee off on number one tee box at Santa Maria golf course at 6:00 am the day of a night game before the club house opens and the sun comes up. Damn Cajuns giving you hell trying to tee off! From Gainesville, Knoxville, College Station it goes on and on with each of you.
I said all that to say. Today I had to sadly cancel reservations in Tupelo (Twelve Oaks/ Pontatoc) as well as the horse park in Starkville (secretly on one our favorite) and MSU golf course. Damn sure going to miss Dudley Park in Athens and Bama RV in T-town with family. I’m too damn old to remember the last time we did not come see you guys! Yep! Sad day indeed. I wish all of you well this season. Thank you.

It's so sad to see. I hate that my family will not be able to have our annual DSOR family reunion/tailgate this year. Oh well. Bring on 2021!

My wife taught in Social Circle for 10 years. Interesting place.

I know where Highland is, beautiful area with the trees etc. Been a while since I’ve been down memory lane in Baton Rouge.
I have family in Louisiana, (LSU fans) in Baton Rouge and Nawlins and Metairie, La. Spent a lot of time in all 3, mostly Baton Rouge.
I probably know Baton Rouge as well as most. When I was a kid we’d eat all over the city. From Florida Blvd to places off Airline Hwy. mostly seafood.
A lot has changed there over the years, Perkins road is now a major strip and Jones Creek road (Which used to be not much) has grown. There was a road I believe called “Sherwood Forest” that went all the way to Florida BLVD. Beautiful area and upper middle class. My last trip saw it going down hill. It’s so sad. Kinda like the nice places in Jackson have really gone down.
When we’d go to LSU games we hit a place called “Chimes”, very good place. And a mom and pop place called “Dempsey’s”, the owner and his wife cared and ran it. (For you Baton Rouge people it was on Coursey Blvd). I understand they have multiple locations now. Almost forgot Brewbachers.
Anyway I could go on and on but always loved Baton Rouge. Most fun were baseball games. Their die hard baseball fans are exactly like MSU baseball fans. Just a different fan base.

Wow! I am in my 50's and claimed to be 62 years old? You said you were 13 years old in 1979. Doesn't add up to 62 years old as of today!

So I put the wrong year in and naturally most of you had to focus on the mistake missing the point I was making. For clarity it was 1971.

Is this Highland Road in Baton Rouge? I had a grandmother that lived off Highland Road in an area called "The Village". Or at least that is what she called it. I am trying to think of the name of the exact road she lived on....
