Coach Morris spoke to the press today.

Lots of coach speak

Bo wants to be great. Game seems to be slowing down for him.

Capers is the freshman WR getting the praise.

Throws to the RBs and TEs, throws to the RBs and TEs, did I mention throws to the TEs and RBs

Hamm and Council very good fall camps

Grant Loy great addition to the team. Huge arm. Can make plays running and throwing

Alec Jackson has had a good fall camp looking for more consistency

Joiner lacks consistency but has great hands

Blah blah blah coach speak

Did I mention throws to the TEs and RBs

^is this even legal? I thought the ball had to be thrown behind the scrimmage line or 30 yards down field.

So what you are saying is IF a player is on end of line or in backfield (with a properly numbered jersey), he is eligible to catch a pass anywhere on the field from sideline to sideline and end zone to end zone?

This is a game changer. Whirlybird®?ENGAGE!

Speaking of Vaseline...

Chad said the goal of the offense this year was to be the most explosive in the country.

Vaseline - explosive- wins!

Saw this on the main board:

Regarding Gatewood which apparently is or will be cleared:

quote:

he will not play in the first game against Auburn. Sources say in exchange of Auburn being very helpful in the process, Stoops and Malzahn came to a gentlemen’s agreement that UK would not play him in the first game against Auburn.

I’m happy for Gatewood. Worked out well for him

For some reason I don't believe the working out an agreement that he wouldn't play against AU. So we are to believe if he was the starter he wouldn't play because of an agreement.

I'm not shooting the messenger here just that's some weird logic. No truth is Gus is a good dude and has helped multiple players that have chosen to transfer.

Coach Steele's presser today...

Were able to accomplish a lot on zoom meeting but can't learn relentless effort, physicality, or how to tackle on zoom.

Star - Tutt, Puckett, Tennison

safety - Smoke and Sherwood starters... Jordan Peters, tennison is working there. Askew and Thompson

Corner - no starers named but named Hill in the group so hill is at corner not safety. Roger obviously a starter on one side. Good tackling group. Feels like the right guys in the positions

Walker inside and outside. Jay Hardy as well.
Burks and Butler are physical and strong and have the right coach for playing inside. The talent is there.

Smoke Sherwood KJ McClain Pappoe all mentioned in the first group.

Said installation has been done like 7 times over zoom since April.

Ends and Bucks - TD Moulty Derrick hall battling. Height is injured a little bit. Johnson has a knack for rushing the passer. Big Kat starter. Colby Wooden has make a big jump and Handy is a big strong guy.

Linebackers - Cam Riley and Wes Steiner battling for 4th spot. Tisdoll I think may be on of the players that's been out from testing. I think linebacker group from how he's talking has been one of the groups on the team hit by testing. Said some days the 1's were freshmen out there.

McCreary - extremely competitive and can run really fast

Newkirk - athletic big man. Very big and extremely athletic. Needed reps and has gotten experience. Very good football player.

Al Pogue brings a lot of energy

Tackling after missing spring. Very productive 1st scrimmage but wasn't to the standard of AU defense. Have worked very hard on tackling.

Feels very good about depth. Moving depth chart every day but have to develop every player for this season because of the unknown with the virus

Lots of praise for Sherwood and Smoke. Sherwood being praised a lot. Said Sherwood is the best tackling DB he has ever coached.

Gus lets the D coaches recruit what they want with only Gus needed for final approval. The coaches understand together what each coach criteria at each position.

Colby Wooden - He loves football, loves to practice. Has done all the little things. Understands every snap has a life of it's own. Gotten a lot stronger.

Pass rush - still working on pass rush. Don't know if 4 man front can produce pass rush, not sure if pressure will be brought from other places.

Colby Wooden high praise again. Marlon said the end of last season you were seeing his potential. Apparently he had mono in the summer last year and really affected his weight and strength beginning of fall. Explains why he is up to 268 pounds.

Jaren Handy lost about a dozen pounds. Im assuming they knew they would have ample bodies for inside and wanted him to focus on an end position? He really looked good last year, has a nice future.

I hope Newkirk stays healthy and has a tremendous year. Took him to JC, took and extra year to get here, then two achilles injuries....and still at it four years later, I hope me enjoys the rewards of his efforts.

Brown and Davidson is from mr. same old same old too. Gotta take the good with the bad.

It’s not his fault TD Moultry is mental.

Losing out on Dylan Brooks will be bad though. I still think we get him.

How many times was he named SEC defensive linemen of the week? 4 times in 2019? More times than Derrick Brown?

Since when are sacks the only measurement of a defensive linemen?
