How suprised were you that Bama beat a great Florida team in dominating fashion? Be honest. Or if you were expecting to win ... curious to know what you were thinking going into that game.

Honestly, I was sure Florida was going to win that game until seeing Alabama's defense shutting down Tebow & Co. after 1st Q. I had a feeling at halftime then that Urban Meyer had no answer. I was not surprised to hear he had high anxiety (fake heart attack) after that game.

Wasn't expecting to win, but thought we had a shot. We played with Florida in 2008 for 3 quarters before Tebow took over in the 4th, and our 2009 team was better than 2008. However, Florida was a juggernaut. The entire 2009 season was geared towards that game.

Never in 1,000 years would I have predicted we would control the game we way we did. It was the best all-around performance by an Alabama football team that I've ever seen in person given the pressure of the moment for the program and the incredible quality of the opposing team and coach.

Probably the single most satisfying and enjoyable win of the entire Saban era for me.

With McElroy st the helm I was unsure. He played out of his mind.

Expected to lose and didn’t feel super confident until going up 3 scores in the 4th. That Florida team really missed Percy Harvin but was still pretty damn good

I had almost no hopes that we would win, but 2 big moments stand out: Greg flexing on the Florida sideline and Arenas intercepting Tebow in the end zone.

That game was way bigger than the Texas game for me personally.

I wouldn't say I was surprised that we won necessarily but was surprised in the manner that Bama dominated them.

That Florida team took a big step backwards offensively losing some key playmakers and i believe Mullen had left for state after the 2008 season as well. Bama hung with florida in 2008 for most of the game and florida was worse and bama was better in 2009. We all got robbed not getting to see 2008 UF vs USC. That would have been the game to make, everyone knew they were going to beat OU.

That team should have won it all but losing Mullen and Harvin hurt way more than we realized.

Addazio was not imaginative enough for our type of offense which was getting players in space. 2009 was such a frustrating season because it was obvious coaching was the issue on offense. That team should have been unbeatable at that point with 20 starters returning.

Wasn't expecting to win, but wasn't expecting to lose. Definition of a toss up. Knew we had a more than decent chance of winning.

I thought we had a chance based on the way we played against Florida the year before. Florida had taken an obvious step back in 2009 while we had gotten a little better. Going into halftime up 19-13 I thought we were in for another back and forth like the 2008 game. Imagine my surprise when we shut them down and out-muscled them at the point of attack in the final 30 minutes. When we went up 26-13 I began breathing a little easier. But it wasn't until Arenas picked off Tebow in the endzone that I began to really feel it.

Not a Bama fan but I remember seeing both teams play in Starkville that year and objectively thinking Bama was a good bit better. Florida had a very good defense that year but they were underwhelming offensively considering who their QB was.

Definitely one of my most satisfying favorite Bama wins of all time.Florida was on a great run for the last 3 yrs heading into that game with two nattys. That great run all came to an end that night. Hated to see Meyer leave the SEC but the intense competition week in & week out nearly killed him.

As SOG said I wasn’t expecting to beat Tim Tebow either. I just though Tebow would out perform Greg McElroy to win the game. The Gators were undefeated and seemed to be a team of destiny. I’m only the 10th post I’ll be surprised to see how many Bama fans say they thought we’d win.

I wasn't in the "Expecting to win" mindset. I figured we had a chance (we held in tight with Florida until the end the previous year), but Florida seemed like a team of destiny.

I most certainly did not go into that game thinking we were going to thump them like we did. That said, that was probably the game that should have warned people how Tebow was going to look in the pros. Alabama's defense wasn't like an NFL team, but it did have a decent bit of future NFL talent at that point. Florida being shutout in the second half was mind boggling at the time.

When you look at more than just the score, it's obvious Alabama dominated every aspect of the game. They outgained Florida by 165, held onto the ball twice as long (24:17 to 12:23), and had twice as many first downs (26-13). McElroy had threw just 18 passes for 239 yards; Tebow threw 35 passes for 247. It was also the beginning of the 10-1 run of West teams over East teams in the SECCG.

I thought we had a good chance simply because we had as good an overall team as them mainly because the studs Saban brought on board in 08 & 09.We were leading them going into the 4th quarter the yr before so we knew we could hang with them. Tebow's relentless will to win was where my doubts were though. Fortunatly Gmac & the rest of our team matched it. Bottom line I thought it was a toss up going in.

had no clue Florida returned that much from previous year... I guess losing Mullen and Harvin hindered that team

I was cautiously optimistic but obviously nervous. Should or could have won in 2008, and by 2009 the machine was rolling. After the first or second defensive series I was pretty sure we had it- it was clear that team was fired up and there to win.

One of the few times I've pulled for Bama in the Nick Saban era, the Gary and Verne love for Tebow was just unbearable

I thought with McElroy at the helm and our run game we would win. Bama didn't turn the ball over much. The defense was nasty! Still, Florida had TeBow and that man has a will not to lose! All told, I was very optimistic with a cautious reserve.

I wasn't surprised at all, I knew that team was boss and could beat anyone.
