Losing Carlos Dunlap to a dui the week of the SECg killed our defense. He was dominant that year and losing him helped Alabama control the ball and clock offensively

Genuinely, it was just behind the '92 Bama - Miami NC game in terms of meaningful games I thought UA had very little chance to win. It was awesome; then, immediately sour knowing Bama wasn't done and had another big hurdle to go with UTx.

Yep it was one of those games that had an eerie feeling beforehand based on that news IMO. That 09 team just didn't have the same explosiveness as 08 and also Bama for sure came out with fire and motivation with the 2nd half and onward.

Didn't florida finish the year 13-1 with a beatdown on a very good Cincinnati team in the bowl game?

Yep. I think B Kelly had left for ND but they destroyed Cincy.

Just rewatched it. Man was that fun. Meyer's expressions when ever CBS would show him were priceless, especially after Peak's TD.

Meyer and Saban both tell you all you need to know about how they feel a game is going to go but their expressions. When Saban was hella pissed during his pregame CBS interview against LSU this year I turned to a buddy and said "Uh oh. He knows the team isn't ready today."

very good Cincinnati team

Ehhhhhh

Actually for the context, I would count 2009 UC as a very good Cincinnati team. Not a very good power 5 team but the context, you know.
