Has turned from a relatively peaceful protest in Linn Park into what is becoming a riot.

Jermaine Funnymaine Johnson has been at the center of getting the riot going in Birmingham tonight.

frick him.. I’m a black man and it’s true. He called for statues to be torn down and violence. We don’t need that now.. cut all ties with him.

Exactly. This country doesn’t need more violence and innocent people getting hurt. We don’t need kids out there thinking that violence is the proper way to get things accomplished. Adults should know better and he is compounding a problem that will only get worse with more violence

I believe there are cops who behave with racial animus. I can’t pretend to understand how the African-American community feels about police treatment of them. That said, the looting and destroying property just takes away from the meaningful message of the peaceful protests. It just creates more division.

I watched ABC 33/40 live when their reporter Stephen Quinn got assaulted on air. Not a cop to be seen.
Absolutely ridiculous that Woodfin allowed that tinderbox to smolder like it did. Ridiculous that the mob was allowed to leave Linn Park in the first place.
Hope FunnyMaine has another career in mind after inciting that mess.

The Unfunny Man is a fricking coward. He’s now on twitter basically saying it isn’t his fault and he turned off the comments so no one could respond. There’s literally 2 videos I’ve seen so far with him leading the charge. One with him at the podium saying we’re gonna tear sh*t down tonight and the other video showed him in the crowd with everyone else at the riot

I was watching a live stream on a fox 6 reporter's Facebook page and she was constantly being threatened. Total failure of leadership in Birmingham today. The police should have been there before they tore down any statues. Even if they looked the other way whole that happened, things only escalated from there. I think the city wanted these rioters to tear down statues and so they didn't send out any police so it wouldn't look like the city was standing by and letting it happen. Not sending police made things much worse.

If we're going to be honest with ourselves when the protest was only kneeling people said it was too much, disrespectful and they shouldn't do that either.

I liked the dude too

Very clearly he knew exactly what he was doing while he was giving the speech. “What I am telling you is, don’t go down to Linn Park and don’t tear down a certain statute. And we all know which one.” Come on, you knew exactly what was going to happen, and probably knew what could possibly happen if you say something like that. I lost a lot of respect for him.

Get the hell out of here with this shite. Kneeling for the national anthem implied systemic racism, which made no freaking sense at that time and makes no sense today. When Kaepernick started his protest, Obama was in the White House and a black woman was the Attorney General of the United States. With these facts in mind, he was claiming the U.S. Justice System was racist against black people and other minorities.
There are laws on the books that were put there to destroy systemic racism. And while I'm sure there are racists who are police officers in the year 2020, you can't convince me that their racist activities are endorsed by their chain of command or the city in which they work for.

He’s downtown right now trying to find every camera he can get in front of crying about how the statue is the real villain and he can’t trust white people. Accepting zero responsibility even though he was giving ultimatums on a bullhorn last night.
Funny how he had no problem taking their money the last few years.

Now your communities are being disgraced. I'm not asking anyone to be a hero because I ain't a hero.

If you are in the Birmingham AL area, we need to organize a Neighborhood Watch. This is no joke.... We must lend our hands to the community.
I call on the rest of AL to do the same for your local areas. Our officials have pvroven to be ineffective. We have to pick up the slack.

The point was, and is, that a protest by millionaires at a football game during the national anthem is neither the time nor the place.

Did he mention the reporters who were on camera being attacked for the world to see?
