He had no blocking and got destroyed in pass protection. It was so bad that he started screaming at the offensive line. It didn't help that he stood in the pocket for way too long.

I agree with Shaw being the consensus, but I can't sleep on what Dylan Thompson was able to do as a back up and as his single year as stater

Shaw over the course of seasons no doubt.

... and DT17 led the SEC in passing yards his SR campaign. which was also an 11-win offense that was failed by the worst defense Carolina has ever put on the gridiron in SEC play.

Austin Allen led the SEC in passing in 2016 but regressed the next year pretty bad. Probably because he was so concussed from how shitty our OL got after Pittman left.

I always felt like Austin was one sack away from quitting. His pass protection was criminal.

Josh Dobbs. He singlehandedly won games for us and did it behind the 117th ranked offensive line in the country. Beat Florida for the first time in forever. Beat UGA twice once with 440 tot yards and 5tds, and once with a Hail Mary. One of few players to have a game with 300 passing and 100 rushing. Bought butch jones at least 2 extra seasons. It’s not like we were worldbeaters when he was there, but when he left we crumbled.

That's right. He played with injury so much. Imagine if he was even 90% healthy his 3 seasons. Maybe his decision making could've also improved.

That QB from Ole Miss that replaced Shea Patterson. Ta'mu I think his name is. I really liked his game.

Other than that, gold!

James Franklin comes to mind for Mizzou but he only played his last 2 years in the SEC. 51 passing TDs and 21 rushing TDs. Also led Mizzou to SEC championship game in 2013 while playing injured. Overlooked because of where he played.

Not to mention his relatively iconic TD run where he plowed A&M’s D and made them all look like bitches. Yea, it was Big 12 play, but we are both SEC now so it kinda counts. Shame he was never truly healthy when we made the jump.

Yes. There wasn’t an award out there commensurate to his talent.

Underrated going into the season, has to be Joe Burrow. Nobody (other than Buckeye Jeaux on the Rant, and I still think he was trolling) saw THAT coming.

Underrated after the fact, Conner Shaw gets my vote. Amazing career.

Just to stir the pot... how about this mystery guy?

24-8 record as a starter.
398 for 678 passing, 4733 yds, 34 TDs, 359 rushes for 1018 yds and 12 TDs. Started 4 bowls, was offensive MVP in his first bowl. Led his team to 2 wins over Alabama.
Ranks 5th in school history for wins, passing TDs, rushing TDs, and 6th in passing yds, completion percentage, attempts and completions. Led his team to an SEC championship and a national title game appearance.

Doesn't sound bad; betcha can't guess who

Y'know, JJ might actually BE the most underrated QB in SEC history. I mean, he's universally vilified, and yet by the numbers, he had a pretty damn good career. Hell, how many other guys have multiple wins over Saban's Bama teams, 4 bowl starts, won the SEC, and was voted offensive MVP in a bowl as a freshman?
But 1 game (his last), and a bar fight, and he's dogshit forever
Fate is cruel sometimes
