Man I’ve never really paid attention to you, but you don’t have to try to sound all articulate and smart. Everyone can see you’re not, and you sound like quite a bitch as well.

It's hard for me to say anyone besides Ben Davis. He looked like a freak on tape... especially when he played WR too in high school.

He’s a joke and it’s funny to all of us to observe him lecturing others on flawed logic. We’re not laughing with him, but it doesn’t seem like he recognizes that.

He’s still involved in a thread 5 pages later in which he said he wanted nothing to do with.

I don’t think Adrian Hubbard was a highly regarded recruit. A 3 star.

No, I wouldn't critically pick apart the performance of a person doing something I couldn't do.

Take welding, for example. I have basic welding skills at best. Not too much experience doing it. I'd criticize a guy for welding without a mask - it's a universal don't. But I'd never pick apart and therefore insult the quality of an expert welder's bead.

And by this standard, this thread is insulting to 'expert' cfb players getting their performance nitpicked by people who'd need 3 wishes and steroids to be a 'novice' at the activity.

And so yeah, I look down at the goal of this thread and those supporting it.

By the way, it matters that this is a public forum. Criticize whomever you want in your game room with your buddies.

Also, we're anonymous, but the people you're criticizing are not. That makes it a special brand of bullshite.

He was a consensus 4* by Scout, Rivals, and ESPN.

He was one of those late finds that had his recruitment heat up near the end of the recruiting cycle.

He was sold as a great athlete with a basketball background, even some fringe Jason Taylor comparisons due to his storkish frame. Definitely was some hype around him, but to be fair, Bama fans were also still in the "OMG, JACK LB" phase lol

He had that 1 good year at Bama, then regressed. Declared early, against the advice of Saban and/or Lance Thompson(whom he hates with a passion), and then gets flagged for a heart abnormality and also character flaws at the Combine and goes undrafted.

Also, the part of the thread title that says "based on expectations" makes it worse.

The concept of having high expectations in advance of a thing is nearly universally detrimental to the human experience and serves no good purpose.

"Expectations are just disappointments waiting to happen."

That's a tough one there, it was an underwhelming situation that was really out of his hands.

By all accounts he was having a good camp, then gets flagged for online courses that wrecked his eligibility.

He eventually got his shot at the NFL, but man he got screwed out of an opportunity that some players dream for at Bama.

Also reminded me of another guy from NC who had his career tanked due to academic problems, TE Josh McNeil.

Same class as OJ Howard, McNeil dubbed themselves the "Two Towers". Ended up being unable to enroll early and potentially at all, so he decommitted.

Claimed to commit to LSU, but they confirmed he wasn't. Ended up signing with FSU, but went to JuCo. Finally ended up playing his college ball with the Akron Zips.

Damn I didnt realize he was ruled academically ineligible. I just remember watching the under armor all American game and he was in the backfield the entire game.

A player that I had unrealistic expectations for was Ivan Matchett. It’s not his fault. His career was cut short by injury. I thought he was under rated and would be able to get tough yards for us.

The damndest part, one was a makeup course online during his sophomore year...for PE.

He broke his hand and couldn't physically participate, so he completed what everyone but the NCAA deemed acceptable.

That's pretty messed up but at least he did get a shot at the NFL. Reminds me of that running back that was committed to us and got arrested for a rape charge. Lost his scholarship offer, got sentenced to some serious time. Only for the girl to come out later and admit she lied about the whole incident

It would be very useful, yes. But it would hurt site traffic on The Rant and therefore never happen.

Was this Spanish Fort WR Deon Johnson or another guy?

Johnson got a not guilty verdict on 1 charge, and was granted youthful offender status on the other 2.

He failed to register as a sex offender and spent some time in jail.

He was later arrested and charged with murder, got out on bond, and then shot at a car full of people and proceeded to go on the run for 4 months.
