I think he is just loyal to guys once they become starters and play well. That was shown in 2017 when he played Jalen over Tua when Jalen was awful and last year when he wouldn’t name Tua the starter because he didn’t wanna hurt Jalens feelings.
Damien Harris was the starter and was playing well so Nick stuck with him as RB1......even though everyone knew Jacobs was even better

His career got cut a bit too short to make the HoF.
Shaun won the rushing title and league MVP. Had his coach not been a moron he'd have won the rushing title at least once more.
Holmgren knew he only needed a few yds to win it one year and refused to put him back in.
Alexander played a year longer than Dwight Stephenson and he's in the HOF.

Exactly. This is stupidity. His refusal to play Tua in 2017 despite him being significantly better than Jalen is a big reason why Daboll took issue with Saban and left the program.
I don’t get it

Still don’t understand that!
Always thought he was the best back

He was injured some.
Saban seems to have a few players every year that should be starting or getting a lot more PT that just don't for whatever reason.

He looked good last night for sure

Josh had a great NFL debut and it’s great for our recruiting for kids to see an ex Bama guy producing on MNF. I can’t help but lament that Bama didn’t quite utilize the full potential of Jacobs much like OJ Howard. But only eleven can play at a time so that’d life. Looking forward to watching him play more.

and he never started a game at Alabama. Never got the majority of carries in any game. Makes Saban look like an idiot tbh.
People don’t want to admit it, but Saban sucks at fielding his best players.
Didn't you get banned from the alabama board for being an idiot?

Gruden will run him into the ground just like he did to ‘lac, so he better be glad he barely got any carries at Bama.

It's not like Damien Harris was averaging over 7 yards per carry in Jacobs's freshman and sophomore years or anything.
Starting Harris over Jacobs is fine but what’s the excuse for an ineffective Bo Scarbrough getting almost 3x as many carries as Jacobs in 2017?

I'm going out on a limb here, but I am assuming that it had something to do with Josh Jacobs hamstring injury right before the season, and then his ankle injury 5 weeks into the season. Just a hunch.

I’m still salty that Saban stole him from us at the 11th hour

3 former players did extremely well:
Henry - 159 total yards - 2 TDs
Jacobs - 113 total yards - 2 TDs
Ingram - 107 rushing yards - 2 TDs
2 did not:
I think Drake and Yeldon may need to find new homes. Drake (who is explosive) rarely touched the ball for Miami and Yeldon barely got on the field and had zero touches.
I think Josh has the potential to be a Kamara-type player because of his route running and receiving abilities, though he can lower the shoulder and run over people too.

And he barely played at UA compared to all the other studs.
That's a plain lie.
He was injured a good part of 2017. In 2018, he and both D and N Harris had a similar number of carries (D Harris 150, Jacobs 120, and N Harris 117). Jacobs had the lowest YPC of the three - half a yard less than D Harris and well over a yard less than N Harris.
The revisionist history is simply amazing.

How DARE you say the hurt guy should still have played and would have been more effective than the healthy one?

I think they are all trolls planted to rub salt or give misinformation for clicks. You see this on message boards looking for more action on stories. The posters that troll Bama are especially fishy. Notice they are here all day - every day? Don’t you have a regular job - not posting all day? I’ve kinda figured out who they are this year because they have gone a bit overboard lately.

Josh Jacobs is proof that the American Dream is still alive and well. Dude grew up with nothing in Oklahoma, worked his butt off, and is now a multi-millionaire playing in the NFL.
This is a great story
I never knew this until they gave the background last night.
I really really hate you guys, but I'm a Josh Jacobs fan now.

If only Saban would've kept Tua on the bench...

then his ankle injury 5 weeks into the season
After that ankle injury five weeks into the season, Jacobs got nine carries against Arkansas, nine carries against Tennessee, six carries against Mississippi State and six carries against Auburn. If Jacobs was so hampered by the ankle injury, how come he was getting so much burn immediately following that injury? It was only during the more important games (LSU and two CFB Playoff games) that Jacobs' playing time was drastically reduced.
