This is just wild:

Ja'Corey Brooks' impending departure means every wide receiver in Alabama's 2020 and 2021 recruiting classes ended up transferring: Traeshon Holden, Javon Baker, Thaiu Jones-Bell, Brooks, Agiye Hall, JoJo Earle and Christian Leary.

None of them could fill the massive shoes left by the group before.

Consecutive Wins Against No. 1 Teams in Same Season? Nick Saban Can Make History (SI)

All Things CW: The Alabama coach has had the record for most wins against No. 1 teams for nearly a decade. But he'll have the chance to set a new mark at the Rose Bowl.

That class should've been another round of Ruggs/Jeudy/Smith and not one of them has shown they are a difference maker.

If Baker had stuck around he might've panned out. He had a really good year for UCF this year. Holden, Earle, and Leary all found roles for their new teams but none were really standouts.

There isnt anyone on that list who would even take snaps for the peak Bama offenses of the last 15 years.

Baker is just a guy getting lots of targets in a conference without any pass defenses.

OK?

I think everyone realizes that, but we aren't a peak Bama offense this year, so my point stands.

And assuming we beat Michigan I would imagine the winner of the other Semifinal may go to number 1 the next week so we would get a shot at 3 in a row.

They don't rerank after the first round of the playoff.

So if this isn’t a peak offense and Baker was beaten out by the guys getting snaps for us that doesn’t say much for what the coaches thought about him.

I’m mostly frustrated that at the time those guys were recruited that WR group was being talked about as one of the highest ranked in 247 history and not one of them ever turned into a difference maker.

The problem is Covid screwed up the whole evaluation process on a lot of these kids. There were articles awhile back that coaches were “missing at least 3 data points” on these evaluations. When the NCAA enacted the dead period because of Covid it made the whole recruiting process on these guys hit or miss and unfortunately we missed on some.

Not a single first team Walter Camp All American for Bama. I know I shouldn’t let it bother me but gotdamn it really pisses me off.

JC Latham, Dallas Turner, Arnold or even Downs. They put Starks from UGA, though. That dude is so overrated.

It’s just illogical. These are supposed to be the best players in America yet Notre Dame has like 2 on first team and Old Dominion even has a LB on there. You guys taking Payton from NC St over Dallas? Anyone?

Oh well. Just had to rant a bit over that. It doesn’t matter but it’s still annoying how poor these awards selections are.

At least a few made 2nd team. Latham, Dallas and Kool Aide.

We’ll have 3-4 first rounders, but none were supposedly good enough to be first team all Americans. I think AP Members are a little angry about Bama in the playoffs. Frick em and their petty arses and stupid awards

That’s basically it. Take out their problems with Bama on literal children. It’s disgusting.

Hopefully this will be some nice motivation for the playoffs. They have earned more recognition than they are getting.

If we get to play Texas again we will have a huge chip on our shoulder. Kind of exciting.
