Defense gave up the 2nd least amount of Available Yards vs an FBS team (without garbage time) in college football last weekend.
Texas, however, was #1
1. Texas (13.5% available yards allowed)
2. Alabama (14.9%)
3. Tennessee (17.1%)
4. BYU (17.7%)
5. Michigan (18.5%)
6. Rutgers (18.8%)
7. Washington State (19.1%)
8. Miami (20.9%)
9. Ohio State (22.9%)
10. Michigan State (23.3%)
Last year our best games were
1. Utah State (8.7%)
2. Vanderbilt (14.2%)
3. ULM (19.7%)
4. Miss St (25.4%)

They are decent at WR. Neighbors is their best wideout and Herbstreit kept talking about how elite he is on Sunday, but I'm not buying it. He is a good WR, but not a great one. Thomas is pretty good. Lacey is not very good at all.
I think they are pretty elite athletically.
If you want to ask whether they put in consistent elite effort, well that's a different story.

Effort is lacking because the WRs know they're playing with a guy who can't get them the ball to showcase their skills consistently. And, forget the deep ball from Daniels because it's not happening.

The NFL draft will prove me right. Remember what I said and watch these LSU WRs become 1st and 2nd rounders and starters for NFL teams. It's like people don't remember how a subpar offense and average college QB even made Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham look pedestrian against Bama. Most college football coaches are just middling to be honest. Saban and a few others are really rare.

If Moore is out hopefully Saban will abandon his silly NFL mindset of keeping Koolaid on the left side all game. He needs to blanket Worthy all game imho.

Clemson above Duke makes 0 sense. Embarrassing for the poll and the SIDs doing it.
And a little surprised Texas didn't crack the top 10 with #9 losing...yet Notre Dame moves up 3 spots into the top 10? lol

Last season Terrion came off the bench and handled Worthy. I don't see why he won't be assigned to Worthy again. The only change I anticipate is Terrion and Amos may rotate on Worthy. But, Kool-aid won't be on Worthy.

For all you “stats” people the F+ ratings after week 1
F+ Ratings combine Brian Fremeau's FEI ratings with Bill Connelly's SP+ ratings. Overall team ratings (F+), offense ratings (OF+), defense ratings (DF+), and special teams ratings (SF+) represent each team and unit's standard deviation above or below average. Record splits include overall team record (Rec) and record against FBS opponents (FBS), plus records against F+ top-10 opponents (v10), against F+ top-20 opponents (v20), against F+ top-30 opponents (v30), against F+ top-40 opponents (v40), against F+ top-50 opponents (v50), against F+ top-60 opponents (v60), and against all other opponents (vO).

This isn't how our defense works. We have a left corner and a right corner. Who covers Worthy will be determined by where Worthy lines up and who else Texas has on that side of the field.
Hopefully we scheme it better than we did against Tennessee last year when they used lopsided formations to get their fastest WRs lined up against safeties.

Expect Worthy to line up in the slot if UT watched the Tenn tape. Let's see how we adjust with Steele.

The tape with a completely different DC, nickel, and both safeties? Don’t see how that would help

MTSU rolled out some formations that were similar to what Tenn used (e.g., stacked WRs) and they had some success with them.
I bet we'll see stacked WR formations on Saturday and I imagine we'll also see Worthy in the slot a bit, mostly because it's very difficult to press a guy in the slot.

True we don’t have the same safeties but pairing an elite WR against a safety who may not have elite speed is a bonus. I think we have massive upgrades in safety Key and Downs. So that may be a wash. If Worthy is the heavy target, bracket him and move on. They may expect that and target someone else that’s why it’s a chess match.

I agree it seems they (Key /Downs) just have better overall athletic ability to turn(hip-wise) and run much better than last yrs pair.
Both seem to be able to break better on the ball with faster straight line speed.
Also on a side Note:
That WR out of Texas (# 14)looks really smooth out there

Can't play a safety on Worthy in the slot. Suspect Steele knows that. Golding did not.
