Watching UGAvsLSU 2003 SECCG. And it reminded me how good Billy Bennett was for UGA.

Don’t know about the SEC, but I think Cole Tracy is the best kicker LSU has had.

Daniel Carlson basically got robbed of back to back Groza Awards his SO and JR years
ETA
Carlson is also the SEC's all time leader in scoring and #6 in NCAA history (#3 by a kicker)

I think you could list 5 or 6 at the top who are interchangeable. Kevin Butler and Daniel Carlson would definitely be in the group.

I'm guessing you don't remember the regular season match-up when he missed 3 in the first half.

Jonathan Nichols, Ole Miss. won the Groza award as nations best placekicker in 2003, making 25 of 28 field goals that season. Only remembered for the 2 chip shot fgs he missed against LSU in a 17-14 loss where the better team lost that day. Nichols, who had missed one field goal all season, missed twice that day, from 29 yds and 32 yds. Ole Miss finished 7-1 in the SEC, while LSU finished 7-1 and a national championship...from 2001-2003, Nichols made 69 of 81 field goals.

Butler and Carlson are the two who came to mind for me. The stats lean to Carlson but what are the arguments for Butler? Or other SEC kickers?

Josh Jasper was frickin money for us. Only missed 9 field goals and 1 Extra point for us.
