ATHENS, Ga. — According to Georgia Football Coach Kirby Smart, University of Georgia wide receiver and former Newton High standout JJ Holloman has been dismissed from the football team after an investigation into a 2018 assault was launched earlier this month. “Jeremiah Holloman no longer represents the University of Georgia football program," Coach Kirby Smart said in a statement to The Covington News. "We expect every member of our team to uphold the highest standards and values of the University of Georgia and Georgia football. It is disappointing when this does not happen.”

Yikes.

1. What a shitty thing to do. No option but to kick him off the team.

2. Devastating for our chances this year. Losing the best player at one of our worst by most important positions.

Next man up. Don't need that kind of distractions. Hate it for the kid but he must have issues.

If everything that is being said is true then good riddance.

I'm OK with the removal from the team. Sounds warranted.

I'm happy that this hasn't been a media distraction for 18 months. Something is working for justice to work in this fashion (innocent until proven guilty). I don't like raking kids over the coals just to have something dismissed or dropped.

Hardman
Ridley
Godwin
Holloman
Nauta
That little transfer dude

Amazing.

Next man up.

Meanwhile at UF, Mullen welcomes Brian Edwards, who was arrested for battery, back with open arms. Insufficient evidence for conviction (read Huntley Johnson + bags). Thin at DB = can stay on the team.

This sucks bad. Holloman’s a damn idiot. In any time, but especially this one, you know exactly what’s coming your way if you hit a woman.

Next man up. This is why recruiting matters. Time for some guys to prove themselves.

It sucks, but just what it is. Can't dwell on the past, wake up call for the young receivers, and most importantly, a wide open opportunity for everyone.

This is probably moot but why exactly did she wait 14 months to report the incident to the police?

Perhaps as suggested in the Covington News story:

quote:

Holloman, however, told UGAPD the victim had contacted him prior to filing the report. Holloman said the victim said “she was upset about him dating someone else that attends the same school as her.” He added that she sent “threatening text messages saying that ‘she would have someone get him.’”

Doesn't change the outcome but does make you wonder about the mentality of the victim. She only decides to report the incident after learning that Holloman was dating an acquaintance a year later? In other words...revenge?
