Isaiah Wilson...Georgia's OL: 'We want to beat you'

"I want to physically beat you," Wilson said. "I want to run the ball and put my helmet in your ribs. I want to beat you and make you not want to play anymore, which I think goes for most SEC offensive linemen, but especially this line. We want to beat you."

At a grand total weight of 1660 lbs, I do believe all the SEC D-Lines better take this particular O-Line very, very seriously.

I mean, isn’t every line gonna say this?

Not every OLine weighs 1660 lbs. Name one that comes anywhere close to the size of ours. And BTW, that figure doesn't include Cade Mays. You add him into the mix and that's almost 2000 lbs...
SO NO only the biggest lines get to say it.

He more or less says so in his quote... But yeah... Not much to be read into here other than the sheer mass of this OL, while generally being healthy, fast and strong...

We’ve been the biggest line before and it didn’t work out so great. No doubt what we have now is better than that one, but just saying.

While that is a true statement, let's not forget that the talent and coaching of this O-line is far, far superior to the lard asses back then.

Watching him at spring ball he looked like an over-sized version of defensive end more than offensive tackle.

The OL has to have a mean streak. I don't think anyone really remembers Conrad Dobler, mean and nasty.

I wouldn't call them lard asses. The 2011 Offensive Line had;
LT Cordy Glenn 6-5 348 NFL
LG Dallas Lee 6-4 300
C Ben Jones 6-3 316 NFL
RG Chris Burnette 6-3 313 NFL(practice squad for one season)
Justin Anderson 6-5 342 NFL
This was a very big and talented line. There weren't any depth and the offense couldn't get it going against good defenses.
Now we have an 4 and 5 star Oline with 4 and 5 star backups fighting for playing time, being coached by the best.

Yes but did we have the talent to go along with it like we do now?

Well, fattest, at least.

I just remember the whole line getting embarrassed vs Boise State and outweighing them by a minimum of 50lbs per man and they were also gassed by the 4th qtr...coulda been our S&C as well.
Don't believe Lee was ever in the NFL and while Anderson was drafted he never played a down.

I guess this means we won't run it right up the middle against Florida four straight times on the goal line this year only to kick a field goal.
Prove it on the field, imo.

We didn't have a clue what we were doing against Boise. I remember Cordy Glenn getting beat one play. We line up and he's looking back to the coaches like he doesnt know what to do on the play (with a 250 lb DE lined up on top of him).
A couple of games later, Cordy was a stud. But shuffling players around on the line left us unprepared to start the season.

I believe the guy he played against ended up being a 1st rounder and pretty sure they had a couple of others drafted off that DL.Still weren't very big and ran circles around our OL.
Take away Boykin's 80 yard reverse and we probably averaged about 2 ypc.

That reminds me, remember the Van Hallanger and Tereshinski S&C days? Good lord it’s like we weren’t even playing the same game as everyone else

Van Hallanger was thought to be a big upgrade when he arrived but as usual we fell behind the times with S&C.
