Good god man... are you a barbarian? The oldest form of competitive sport in the world is boring? I guess you never saw Billy Cannon, 215 lbs, win the 100 at the 1957 SEC? I guess you never saw Dave Wattle win...or the amazing 10,000 run by Billy Mills in Japan?
How about Al Oarter winning 5 Olympic discus... Do you have no appreciation of what it took for Edwin Moses or Carl Lewis to do what they did?

Track and field is the most compelling sport this side of football. Even a youth parish meet is great theatre. Just because T&F is severely degraded in the US (my 1962 all-white high school team in Gainesville Fla would be competitive for State prep honors in LA today)no reason to snort just because you don’t understand what it takes.

Don't forget about this guy...

Jesus Christ, the kid is a 46.23 400m, 6'7" high jumper and jumps 13' in the PV!
How the hell did the Texas schools let this kid get away?
UGA is building a powerhouse on both sides of that program, and I'm jealous as hell!

Bob Beamon in Mexico City! Lassie Viren in '72 and '76. Frank Shorter in Munich. Jim Ryun as a high school kid breaking 4:00 and John Walker of New Zeland breaking 3:50. Track and Field is the premire sport of the Olympics for a reason.

Where did you go to HS in Gainesville? I went to P.K.Yonge.

44.74 split, WTF did I just watch?!

Dude, I've lived in Fayetteville since 88, Track Capital of the World, and ran CC and have trained with mark O'Meara, Eric Henry, Wallace Spearman, etc and I have seen a whole lot of track. THAT kid is not only an Olympian, he'll medal. In the 400. Maybe the 800. Thats insane for a high school kid. I've heard about him for awhile but that was incredible.

I'm going to guess that poster doesn't understand difference between wind legal and all conditions.

Schwartz's 10.07 was *barely* an all conditions... +2.05. Boling's 9.98 was a +4.2

The new record from Boling is wind legal at 10.13.

We get it.

But we can shoot ... anything.

ETA: I remember when Billy Cannon was one of the greatest track and field athletes in the nation. He was a freak.

yea, Arky has seen some great tracksters for sure. This kid is simply a genetic anomaly, the family tree didn't even predict he'd be a runner much less world class.

Billy Cannon was one of the first to do the type of explosive weight lifting players do now.

He didn't weigh 215 maybe 205 but not 215. It is also widely rumored he was one of the first guys in the SEC to experiment with anabolic steroids. Regardless, Cannon was a deserving Heisman winner and a great athlete.
