Every school is going to continue dealing with this. It will be the new normal.
It's too expensive to make every game. Hotels, tailgating, tickets, missed work etc.
Not to mention the tax write offs are going away.

I don’t think A&M helped much with the STL or KC markets.

I'm not sure they helped with the Houston and Dallas market. We should have pushed harder for UT.

90% of mizzou fans have a 2+ hour drive. Hotels cost a limb game weekend. I'll will say, for the first time in years mizzou did make a large cut to ticket prices, so that should help this upcoming season. Its just a really big commitment to make it to games.

Well we already know the long term answer because USC and Arkansas did it a quarter of a century ago. Now USC played a lot of SEC teams after they left the ACC but they used to play a ton of ACC teams as well, now its two or so a year. They still have Clemson on the schedule so it wasn't that bad.

Arkansas left behind all of her major rivals except for Ole Miss. We also lost a lot of our access to Texas football recruits. But it was leave then or face the very real threat of being locked out of a major conference altogether.

Yes, you miss the old rivals. If the old Big 8 Conference was still around I'm pretty certain Missouri would happily be a member. The Big 12 is a different animal though. Mizzou was right to flee for a more stable, profitable, and equitable conference.

You’d probably be in the ACC by now if you did.

I don't think these are appropriate comparisons. South Carolina and Arkansas are both southern states, and Arkansas was always considered an outsider in the SWC while South Carolina was sort of a nomadic program.

Missouri in a southern conference. Maryland in a Midwest conference. Colorado in a west coast conference. These are different animals.

I'm not blaming their administration for leaving. I'm just saying it sucks for their fans, and I don't think it's a long term solution.

Have won their division 2 times since LSU has last.

Does the difference between the SEC East and West need to be explained to you? Even Arkansas could have won the East once over that time soan...maybe.

I remember when you could FEEL the MIZ...ZOU chant in your chest. Now it’s kind of a dull roar. Most of the people I know stopped really following MU when we lost rivals like KU and Nebraska, and even OU and Texas. It’s just different now.

I am one of those kids. Currently 32. TBH since the move to the SEC Mizzou football in the Kansas City area is not that big of deal like it was when we were playing our rivals every week. In the Mid 2000s with Gary Pinkel coaching we could feel up Arrowhead almost to capacity with ease. Now I am not to sure how full the stadium would be. My friends and I used to get together for every Mizzou football game and at least attend one game a year. Nothing like that happens at all anymore. It's a sad situation. A lot of people lost interest when we switched to the SEC. If we put out a good product and win a lot I am sure some bandwagon fans will come out and enjoy the games again. Even my father stopped following the football games. Not sure if we will ever fully recover from such a move. Great financially, but I am not sure they forecasted what it would do to the fanbase.

Also the Royals and Chiefs success lately has always trumped anything Mizzou. Not sure what the St. Louis side is like. I hear it is more Mizzou Alumni friendly over on that side of the state.

Ehh, Gary Pinkel taking Mizzou to ATL back to back years had to pump things up quit a bit when y'all entered the SEC. It's definitely difference now.

Losing makes people lose interest.

We had two seasons in a row with 1 or 2 conference wins. Coupled with racial issues (or at least a perception of them) with the team and the strike tied to the issues in Ferguson, most of the fans couldn’t care less about the football team.

If we can string together a couple of good seasons, the attendance will bounce back to the 60k range. If we continue to suck, it won’t.

Look at Arkansas’ attendance or Ole Miss’ attendance for last year. Or South Carolina. Or Florida.

Nah it still had a different feel to it since the move. There’s just not much interest in the opponents now.
