Huff and Baker are the top recruiters from State.. it’s damn sure not easy selling Mississippi state. They are bottom tier in facilities, social environment, and winning tradition. They did a great job getting talent to buy in and go to MSU.. they also coached up the talent. Same reason I think Mullen will do very well at Florida. If we get Baker we are getting a good one

Yeah, I agree with Ystar. I have no problem with the guys from Stark Vegas, they look to be good hires. Sark just doesn’t seem like a good choice.

I agree.. I’m on the fence about Stark.. willing to give him a chance. Especially if Tua is comfortable and thrives under him. I just hope he uses our RB’s better. The one that really excites me is Sal.. our LB’s looked damn good under him and his knows what Saban wants. I also like adding Vinne.. he always gave 110% and was a vocal leader.

his play calling didn’t wow anybody in Crimson
but he had, what, a week or two to prepare for Clemson. Best I remember, he wasn't even an active coach on the staff, but was support staff.

Also Baker rotated guys in at the DL.. State did a good job keeping them fresh.
State fans are pissed and worried about losing Baker.. they know what they have in him. I’m way more excited about him than Huff.. and Huff is a great hire

Being able to rotate guys speaks to player development. And, Baker developed his guys. Our d-line needs better player development.

He was offensive support staff all year. What, you think he didn’t help formulate the game plans or watch our games all year? I don’t know what his specific duties were but that should have been a fairly seamless transition for a guy that has been in that chair before. Face it, he shite the bed.
I could have called the second half of that game better than Sark did. All you had to do was adjust to what was working, not continually trying something that wasn’t and played to the weakness of our QB. But he didn’t. Then he got let go in the NFL by a team that has Matt Ryan throwing to Julio and Ridley. Think about that. Yeah, he has decent rankings for his offense but at the end of the day, the front office felt like he wasn’t doing a good job. So we hire him back.
Saban knows better than us so I’ll defer to him but this hire just stinks on the surface and is very hard to rationalize and understand. It feels like it was done to appease the Tagovailoas since they knew him and were comfortable with him and for his ties to the west coast. Otherwise it makes no sense but the GOAT made the call so I’ll just have to trust him and see how it plays out.

Lack of rotation pissed me off this year. I can see tight SEC games maybe but we blew people out with little rotation

What was the situation with Atlanta's o-line?

Saban worked with him for a year, if he truly didn't think he could call a good offense he wouldn't hire Sark back. Saban hired Locksley into the role and very few thought he would be a good playcaller/call a historic offense. Worst case, Sark is an average OC who develops the QBs for a year before he leaves again and we go hire a different OC. Judging him or Golding on limited sample sizes when they weren't the primary coordinator for their unit seems very short sighted.
Also in regards to Atlanta specifically, Sark coordinated an elite offense in Atlanta and will be coming back to college where he will have an offense with comparable talents (relative to their competition) going against defenses that don't have the kind of athletes the NFL does.

We have more of a sample size of Golding as a defensive play caller at Bama than Sark as an offensive play caller at Bama. You can't be even compare the sample sizes between the two. Again, I don't feel comfortable about Golding. Who called that stunt with Quinnen on the 1 yard line when Quinnen has been blowing up offensive lines all season long? Golding.

I would fell much much better had Tosh being calling the defense instead of Pete. Hell we fire Tosh for his part and keep the guy that was actually making the calls. AmIrite?

Are we ever going to officially hire any coaches? I know Saban is in control, but man, I’d like something definitive on some of these positions.

My guess is that Saban just wants to announce them all at one time. It's frustrating for the folks on the outside though

All of the new hires listed below have already started working (recruiting) except the most recent -- Holmon Wiggins, but his twitter and a VaTech thank you tweet indicate he's been hired. Bama might hire MSU DL coach Brian Baker (per 247Sports VIP posts and al.com, among others), but that's still uncertain. No current chatter about any other potential on-field staff turnover.
Potential 2019 staff:
OC/QB - Steve Sarkisian
RB - Charles Huff
WR - Holmon Wiggins
TE/ST - Jeff Banks
OL - Kyle Flood
DC/ILB - Pete Golding
OLB - Sal Sunseri
DL - Brian Baker
S - Charles Kelly
CB - Karl Scott
Edit: It's now being reported that Bama is expected to hire Baker (see following posts).

Football scoop is legit on coach hiring news, they have only missed a couple this off-season. Baker is a huge get.

They are likely playing the percentages.
