You have to give Credit to Coach O

For most of the Srant lamenting about his coaching ability, he has LSU on a solid upward trajectory. Top 5 recruiting class coming in, 10 wins probably should be 11 win season and momentum going into next season with a solid returning QB. The man has followed his own path, despite detractors. How can not like him even with all his little quarks?
Even though I despise certain LSU posters but not necessarily their fanbase because of constantly trolling. I secretly root for O and LSU when it's not detrimental to Bama interests.

He's done a very solid job. LSU is steady, consistent and plays hard as hell.

I think he's done a good job and has surpassed expectations.

I agree!
And I'm one of the few that doesn't despise Saban. He loved his job at LSU, tried his luck in the NFL and wasn't as successful. The Bama job was available when he came back and that was the closest available job to what he had here. He's a great coach and turned our program around.

Agreed. I was honestly concerned when we hired O (because of his tenure at Ole Miss). It’s nice to see that he’s developed into a better coach. I think he’s done a pretty solid job thus far. I’d give him a B+.

"The Bama job was available when he came back and that was the closest available job to what he had here".
I don't mean this to say LSU is a better job, only that it was the job available that had the same potential.

I can’t downvote anyone yet on this thread.

I would love to see him improve on team discipline during games. His players make far too many emotional errors in big games. It is costly to LSU in certain games.
It seems to be more prevalent with the defensive players.

I've been in O's corner since he was named interim.
Supported him getting the full time job over Herman and Fisher.
I've been mocked, derided, and threatened for it.
I'm very happy that I've been proven right.

His quirks add to his likability I think. He's always smiling even after some terrible plays or calls. Yep, he can fire up but he gets over it pretty quickly!

He's surpassed my expectations. The problem for LSU fans is that he's not shown that he's an actual improvement on Miles. I'm guessing most of them aren't looking for "exceeds expectations." They're looking for "genuinely great."

Was that a UGA fan talking about scores of games? hhmm

People are usually fast to rip on first year coaches. You never know what will happen after they get a few classes together and feel things out etc. He’s learned a lot about letting his assist coaches coach and made the adjustments when things didn’t work out. He is doing a fine job. And finally getting a decent QB made a big difference, too.

There's two "geniunely great" coaches out there: Saban and Dabo. Urban retired, so there's the only other one.
Smart is still up in the air. But it's not looking like he will be able to control a program like those two, if at all.

Would absolutely LOVE to hear what the shrimp boat captain thinks a quark is.
