Not a LSU fan but like coach O.....He's matured as a coach. I have a good friend who's son played for him at Ole Miss and he said O was a first class dick the 3 years his son played there. His time back at USC and serving as the interim coach there helped him....Got a feeling USC would be better off today if they'd kept him on.

Not even trying to be a dick, but he's 1-2 against UF, 0-3 against Bama (including two games in Tiger Stadium where LSU didn't even score), and lost to a pretty average A&M team. I would hate having him as a head coach. He overachieved this year.

There's two "geniunely great" coaches out there: Saban and Dabo. Urban retired, so there's the only other one.
Smart is still up in the air. But it's not looking like he will be able to control a program like those two, if at all.
I have to disagree about Smart. He has proven to be a pretty sorry game day coach so far. Recruiting only goes so far and while Kirby is good at that he was totally outclassed by coach O, Saban and Herman on the field.

would love to see him improve on team discipline during games. His players make far too many emotional errors in big games. It is costly to LSU in certain games. It seems to be more prevalent with the defensive players.
Because he coaches on emotion and hype. “We comin’” and “Geaux Tighas” and shite like that. That will get you through the first five minutes of a game, then talent, preparation and coaching take over.

He tried to not do this and we got housed by State then lost to Troy He’s a hype man and a recruiter and that’s fine as long as he has smart x’s and o’s guys as his coordinators and let’s them do their thing. Aranda is the perfect counterweight to O on defense. E is a smart guy and we had a great bowl game, we’ll see how he does year 2 with everyone back.
So far the O experiment has gone better than most thought but next year is a big litmus test, no more excuses about how Les didn’t manage the roster and it looks like we’re going to bring back a ton on both sides of the ball.

Don’t forget about the big cat drill he made some players do during halftime of the bowl in the locker room

Credit to him for this year, but Im gonna wait and see what happens once Aranda leaves. He's the only reason LSU didn't lose atleast 3-4 more games with that offense Ensminger runs

At this point, I'm just being catty, but I do not like how Orgeron wears his emotions on his sleeve too often. It's not all the time, but he lost his shite in several games this season. The bowl game was over the top after one of the early targeting calls. We get it...you're happy you finally get a call.
I'm just saying to let the fans do that. You stay focused.

Ehh, LSU fired Miles after going 10-3. Expectations have been lowered with the Ed hire. Team should have been 11-1.

I've been surprised by O, pretty much the everything was falling out after the Troy loss last year and since then it's seemingly been mostly upward trajectory. The Bama game remains a black eye, but first 10 win season and Top 10 finish in years is something to note with a killer 2019 recruiting class and even better one for 2020 shaping up.
If we can pull off returning a ton of guys for next year, things setup very well for him to actually make a (gasp) playoff run. We wont beat Bama, but get A&M, UF and Auburn all at home. Trade UGA for Vandy on the east rotation. The early season matchup @ Texas can be the one that makes or breaks the season.

most highly anticipated "season opener" since 2011 when we opened up with Oregon in Dallas.

I think he's Les Miles with a lower ceiling.

No one predicted 10-3 and now our fans are mad because we didn’t go 11-1.
Preseason predictions were 4-8 to 7-5.

The key to his long term success is as ever, QB recruiting/development and offensive production. Burrows won’t fall off trees every couple years. Development of Brennan and Parrish is going to play a big role in how well we do.

He definitely exceeded expectations and if he can somehow keep recruiting at a high level he can stay in the 10 win bracket
Posted on 1/4/19 at 9:19 am to FightinTiga
Didn’t LSU finish about 15th in recruiting last year
