I like Ed as well. Seems like he truly loves LSU and any CFB fan should appreciate a coach truly loving where he is like a fan. It's special and unique.
I don't know if he ever does enough to please Tiger fans long term..but it's fun watching it.

There's two "geniunely great" coaches out there: Saban and Dabo. Urban retired, so there's the only other one.
Smart is still up in the air. But it's not looking like he will be able to control a program like those two, if at all.
Okay, genuinely very good, then. For all he's exceeded expectations, I don't think he's given them any reason to believe O is verifiably a step up from Miles yet, which is why, afaict, the majority of the Tiger fanbase has yet to place a lot of faith in him as the coach of the future. And I don't blame them one bit. If the administration is going to fire a coach with Miles' record of accomplishment, it's quite reasonable for the fans to assume that the next coach is an obvious improvement. At the very least, he should be as much a threat to Bama as Gus "The Sad Hatter" Malzahn, right? That's a reasonable expectation.

I’d play my last breath for a coach like O. He’s a players coach and that means a lot this day and time!

I agree. You can tell his players genuinely love him and want to play for him. That means a lot. If he can continue to keep LSU a family on and off the field while keeping the upswing, he'll do fine. Recruiting will continue to be good and worse case, the cupboard stays stocked, best case he makes some waves. Until Saban retires, I don't think he will truly have LSU as a top dog SEC team. He may steal one from Saban here and there but it won't happen often, Saban is just to good of a coach and Bama is a machine right now.

I love that he loves LSU and players will run through a wall for him. Also, I do believe that he is still learning and can even get better. Unfortunately, he is toooo close to Mile’s style which in itself isn’t terrible but not very timely. That is the main reason most LSU aren’t going to accept him and the fact that his mostly conservative offensive style will never beat Bama.

After the bama games in the past, miles would lose to arkansas
And ole miss. That has not happened yet

Not to mention 2 huge acquisitions of Tracy and Burrow to start the season

I'm surprised with the love O is getting now. For 2+ years most people on this site dogged us because we have O for coach

You haven’t been proven right yet. No he hasn’t failed but I wouldn’t say things have changed all that much just yet. Still lost 3 games and still have a poor offense. I think the potential is there but it will all hinge on him getting the offense rolling. Our red zone TD percentage was terrible and the ability to convert crucial 3rd downs was just as bad.

O is cheaper than Miles but he will probably get a raise soon. I shook hands with him and said “God bless you” in July. He exceeded my expectations.
I wouldn’t give him a Malzahn buyout though.

Upward or static from Miles?
We'll see. What a lot of people don't realize is that under Miles, while our recruiting classes were ranked high because of skill position players, our lines were severely depleted. We just haven't had some studs in the trenches for about 4-5 years now.
Orgeron has shown he's going to address those issues. As good of a recruiter as Miles was, Orgeron is better. We'll see how it plays out, but if I'm honest, I'm encouraged by what I've seen.

Just when I think you couldn't be anymore dumber...you do something like this and totally redeem yourself.

I've followed football for a long time and can't remember a coach improving so much from 1 job to another. That in itself deserves major props.

Agreed. After the Canada debacle last year alot of fans threw the word “ego” in O’s direction. Having an ego is a part of being a coach and being a man in general. The fact that he’s looked in the mirror and improved himself this much is absolutely incredible.
He’s literally gone from “worst sec coach ever” to being looked at in a totally different light. This is the equivalent of Vance Joseph coaching a playoff game in a few years lol.
