Let's say Mond gets back to form and our offense starts to gel a bit

10-2?

is not out of the realm of possibility.

our defense is becomming wrecking crew esque. That was a pretty dominating performance.

S.Car, Miss State, Auburn are very winnable at this point.

ol miss is looking like a win.

LSU might be limping into our 11/24 matchup.

am I drinking the cool-aide?

Yes.

8-5.

Clemson, Bama, LSU, Auburn, one of the miss schools.

It's ok, that's a good first season.

Hold the phone. UK is a 1 dimensional offense. We looked thin vs Bama and struggled vs arky.

Unlikely.

We beat Auburn in JHS with Trevor Knight at QB.

If we could build any sort of momentum offensively, and not continually shoot ourselves in the foot, I just might be able to drink the koolaid.

I'm glad we have a bye week before Mississippi State with this coaching staff.

I couldn't say that with the previous staff.

Agree with pretty much everything cokebottleag said.

Kentucky is a pretty good team this year, but all they can do is run the ball, can’t pass at all. And that played right into our best strength on defense. We aren’t wrecking crew yet and there will still be some games this season when we are back to giving up 21-28 or more points I think.

My guess is 8-4 is the most likely, but anywhere from 7 to 10 wins is very much still in play. Ole miss and UAB should get us to 6 wins without too much trouble (I hope). USCe is very beatable (7). Auburn, Miss St, & LSU will all be tough. I’d really like at least 8 wins but could see us only getting 7 and if we don’t have any embarrassing blowouts, would be ok with it as we transition to more of Jimbo’s players.

In short, yes you are drinking too much of the koolaide. We got a lot of stuff we need to fix on offense.

I said this 2 weeks ago. 10-2 is not out of the question. All the games are realistically winnable. Still unlikely though. I’m leaning more and more towards 9-3 over 8-4 though.

This is Mond's form. He isn't what we saw against Clemson. He is ugly Trevor Knight. He is frustratingly inaccurate, slow to make decisions, and he locks in on receivers. Luckily he runs pretty well and is difficult to tackle.

Having said that, I feel good about 8-4 at this point. And if he can clean up the turnovers, 9-3 or 10-2 is certainly possible because nobody left on the schedule is going to have an overwhelming talent advantage.

there really is no getting back to form for mond. this is just who he is. i guess starkel still likes to throw picks cause thats the only thing i can think of keeping us from making the switch

Plenty of Mond defenders around here and I really don't know why. 2 or 3 very good games, a number of mediocre, and a few completely abysmal games. Is there a normal "form" in this mix?

He's also got less pocket awareness and is no rushing threat.

I don't think we'll be 10-2, but I think 10-2 is more likely than 7-5, and maybe more likely than 8-4. I suspect we'll be 9-3.

Starkel is the frickin’ goat at throwing touchdowns to the other team.

I predicted 9-3 on tRant pre-season prediction thread. Knew it was a serious reach, but sticking with it.

Our defense will keep us in every game left this season.

If the defense ever forces turnovers though...

You guys really honestly think Starkel would be an improvement? Mond has been a SIGNIFICANT part of our overall run game. Without him, some of those holes for Trayveon close up. And he is completing 60+%, that isn't horrible. Yes, he's had a few mind numbing decisions, but I think he's been pretty good overall. Starkel would have just as many turnovers, if not more. Plus no contribution to the running game.

I’m resigned to playing Mond the rest of this season. His running, like Trevor Knight’s, opens up our running game. I don’t think Starkel would make any fewer boneheaded mistakes, though he does throw it better. We just don’t have a good option at QB. It is what it is. Until Jimbo recruits us a better player, we’re stuck with Mond. I’ll give Mond credit though. He fights. He cares. He is not a pussy.
