Does anyone actually believe in "bulletin board material" having an impact?

All week this has been one of the biggest things talked about from UGA fans (not as much on here, but some of you exist) and I don't get it

"Deebo said who when asked about Baker" holy frick UGA is gonna play EXTRA hard now!

It's ridiculous, right?

Not really. If you need motivation to play against a conference rival or a division opponent then you’re going to struggle.

He also said bc "I haven't watched much film on them yet".....is he supposed to know the name of every DB in the league immediately?

Yes. They are kids. Hundreds of examples of players talking about how it got them extra motivated for a game.

Depends on the individual player. Michael Jordan used to make up controversies just to keep his focus and intensity.

I can't imagine it affecting a whole team though

It may have a slight effect for the first couple possessions of the game, but then the emotions wear off and talent and coaching takes over.

Hell no. I remember my first competition for Alabama... coach came in an told us what those sorry pukes from delta state were saying about us to the media. We've never swam harder in our lives

This makes me feel better about this game than any "bulletin board material". USCe's best player hasn't watched enough film to know who might be covering him in the biggest game on their schedule.

Yes, I do.

I don’t think Alabama would have ever played a flawless game at Vanderbilt last year without them running their mouth. It would have been a ho-hum, lackluster 38-3 win not a 59-0 drubbing.

Yeah Bama doesn't ever do that to better teams than Vanderbilt

My senior year of high school I taped the name of a rival swimmer above my bed so I could picture beating him when I went to bed and woke up. I did beat him that year. He went on to be the USA mens Olympic coach and Michael Phelps personal coach while I can't even float on my back anymore.

Some of us take solace in the fact that stupid fans do not play in the game. Our players have said a mouth full when they talk about being focused on themselves getting better and not needing "bulletin board material" as a motivator.

I personally love this game (UGAvsUSCe). I can't wait to see these players mix it up! Win or Lose we win just getting to watch.

It’s usually only teams like Vanderbilt or Louisville that want to talk smack. Although Southern Cal did in 2016.

If it's handled right by the staff, it can/will to a good many of the players. Some people need to be mad to perform better.

Not so much during the games, but I think it can help motivate a team during the prep week.
