Don't know about this game, but overall, definitely yes. I've seen it matter many times over the years.

Sometimes it does. Anybody remember 2012 Mizzou's DT Sheldon Richardson saying UGA played "Old man football" before their first ever SEC game as a member?

He would, certainly. Do you honestly believe that players play with the same intensity all the time?

I've played at a pretty decent level, and i can tell you they don't. They just seem to turn it up a notch sometimes. Sometimes it is on certain plays, sometimes against certain opponents.....sometimes when they feel disrespected.

Fir instance...if you get in a fight you want to win, right? But if the guy you are fighting disrespected yo mamma, or yo wife, you might turn it up a notch.

After watching Hard Knocks, Last Chance U, and All or Nothing one thing is evident.

The 18-22 year olds and adult players in the NFL are always having hype sessions like children to get them ready to do anything.

Seems like athletes are treated like kids their whole career.

I think it's valuable for getting guys to focus and go hard in practice which to me has an indirect impact on the game. However, I don't believe there is a direct impact on game day. Everyone is going to go hard then.

It made our cornerback go full idiot on Saturday. I don't think its any coincidence he launched into the one CMU player that talked trash before our game. Tweeter video of stupidity in action below.

They're playing a children's game. Anyone who has played any sport at a high level has had some period of time where their passion or energy waned a little bit or they got a little too comfortable. Somebody else running their mouth is a sure-fire way to make sure an athlete goes full bore all week.

I think that Cochran’s use of B.B. material last week may have over-hyped the shite that Louisville’s receivers were saying ‘cause our defense played pissed...and obviously less disciplined than they usually do.

Could’ve maybe had a shutout.

I think it can make things personal for some players and give them some extra juice. For example, I don’t think we were actually 39 points better than Georgia in 2008. But the end zone shenanigans the year before influenced how we approached that game.

Yes. They are kids. Hundreds of examples of players talking about how it got them extra motivated for a game.

All week this has been one of the biggest things talked about from UGA fans (not as much on here, but some of you exist) and I don't get it

"Deebo said who when asked about Baker" holy frick UGA is gonna play EXTRA hard now!

It's ridiculous, right?

UGA was 3-0 last year with the bulletin material.
Miss St got embarrassed after jonathan abrams comments.
Chauncey Gardner got crushed against one of Fromm's infamous slant throws.
And Gus Malzahn's "kicked the dog crap" was on the bulletin board for the SECCG.

Does it matter during gameday? Absolutely not (except for the fans mocking the original commenter).
But in the weight room and locker room for the week (s) leading up to the game... it can keep intensity. Anger and fear are 2 of the biggest motivators in the human psyche. It doesn't take a sports psychologist to figure this out.

bulletin board material

Doesn't impact squat in the game. Do you really think guys are making or missing tackles, or dropping or catching passes based on some random comment some player or coach said 5 days ago?

The media and fans need shite to talk about between games and "bulletin board material" is one of those BS things to keep the gums flapping.

My favorite part of that quote was him admitting he hasn’t watched enough film on UGA. Solid work ethic Boom has instilled over there.

This is why USCe is so mediocre. Didn’t do his homework.

Anyone who has played competitive sports definitely uses shite talk as motivation.

The irony was delicious.

I don't like to see a kid get hurt. But the kid should shut up and play football.
