Ok ....
But I like to think all SEC teams with a history are relevant.
Ole Miss has a storied history.

Not only has Alabama been by far to the most, Alabama is the only team majorly over .500

Traditionally speaking Alabama always does great in big games.

In Bowl Games, SEC/National title games, 1 vs. 2 games, Alabama's record is way, way better than you would expect.

You figure most teams are going to be about .500 in these scenarios.

So you as an SEC fan RollTide87, have absolutely no respect at all for a team that has appeared the 3rd most times (9 appearances with a 6-3 record) in the our home conference bowl, the Sugar Bowl, with the winning percentage we have for our conference in that bowl? No respect for Vaught, Charlie Connerly, Jake Gibbs, the Mannings, the Pools, Kinards, heck even Chad Kelly and the numbers he put up in this of all conferences?

I would say, "frequently" does great. With all of the wins there have been the blowout vs Neb in 71, worse than the 38-6 score. The heart-breaking losses to ND in 73 and 74, UF in 94 and 08 and Clemson in 16. There are a few others, but in general they have had a clutch gene from 1925 (it was a BIG deal) to this point. Things can always change.

Aggies also got 1998 sugar and 1993 cotton bowl (Aggies were unbeaten in 1993)
They lost both of those bowl games. The '93 Cotton Bowl was for the 1992 season.

Keep on checking - I've already made one error in my initial post and it to was in regard to A&M. I had them at 6-6, not 5-7 like another poster pointed out.

Mizzou has played in 10 Major Bowls (4 Orange, 3 Cotton, 2 Sugar, and 1 Fiesta).

We have a record of 4-6.

Hardly.

They have finished in the AP Top 10 once in the last 50 years. Since 1970, they have only 10 AP Top 25 finishes.

They haven't been consistently competitive on the football field since the mid-60s and weren't competitive on the football field until the early-50s. That's hardly the definition of "storied."

2014-2015 was probably the best two-year run Ole Miss has had since the days of Johnny Vaught and that was accomplished in no small part by flagrant cheating.

You have 4 Oranges, 1 Cotton and 2 Sugars. 2 of your Cottons 2008 (2007 season), 2014 (2013 season) were after the Cotton Bowl ceased to be a major in 1995 and before it resumed being one after the 2014 season. Your 1972 Fiesta bowl game was long before it became a major bowl. Your record in the 7 major bowls you've played in is 2-5.

so a record of 8- 5

Alabama is 9-4 vs AP number 1 teams.

Alabama has played in 11 (22%) of the 51 AP #1 vs #2 matchups in college football history. The record is 7-4. More wins and more appearances than any program. ND is second at 5-3-2, OU 1-7, FSU 4-3, OSU 4-2, Texas 4-2, USC 3-3, Florida 3-3, Miami 3-3, Neb 3-2, Mich 0-4. These are the only schools with 4+ appearances (Army has 4, all around the war years 43-46.) As expected most programs hover around .500. Only one program is more than 2 games over and it's only 3, and it's the one with the most appearances.

71: L #1 Neb
78- W #1 Penn State
92- W #1 Miami
08- L #2 Florida
09- W #1 Florida
09- W #2 Texas
11- L #1 LSU
11- W #1 LSU
12: W #1 ND
15- W #1 Clemson
16- L #2 Clemson

In the 31 games before the BCS in 1998, Alabama had 3 of the 5 SEC matchups in such games and the only 2 wins. Since then, the SEC has appeared in 14 of the 20 games, including having both participants in 4 of them. In the 10 SEC vs other games, the SEC is 8-2.

Note 6: Let's save Rabern57 and aufbfan some trouble: Bama is a worthless, cheating program. They've bought every player that was ever any good from 1925 on. They've paid off all SEC refs from 1933 forward, NCAA presidents from Walter Byers to Mark Emmert, US presidents from Calvin Coolidge to Donald Trump and UN Sec-Generals from Trygve Lie to Ban Ki-moon. Occam's Razor - it's obvious isn't it? Success means cheating - unless you are AU. They were framed for their SEC leading 7 major infractions (that's not counting Barkley, Bowden's confession, SACS, Cam, McGlover, etc.). But they're here to set the record straight. The injustice done to that poor school is stunning.

You bitch about the two guys, then pretty much do what they do, yourself. Got to love cfb

Note 3: From the early 30s til the 60s, UT was Bama's equal regionally, but Alabama far out distanced UT on the national stage. Even Neyland was 2-5 in major bowls. Their 1939 unscored on team was beaten 14-0 by USC in the Rose Bowl. They played another RB a few years later and still haven't scored.

I wonder how differently UT's path of national prominence would have been, had George Cafego been able to play in that '39 Rose Bowl.

Note 4: Most do not know how good Vaught was from the late 40s til the early 60s. No NC, but very close 3 times and 6 SEC titles. 1952-1963 4 top 5s, 8 top 7s, 10 top 11s. OM was who Alabama and Bryant had to dethrone in the SEC, not UT.

The NCAA officially recognized the 1960 NC:

I agree that LSU has a much better history than they get credit for. They've been solid.

However, I am not sure how 11-11-1 beats 10-8.
