I mean Game 1 starter coming out of preseason camp.
I'm thinking Auburn's was Terry Henley in the early 70's.
Tre Smith started vs Bama in '02 but it was only because Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown were both injured.

Can't remember his name ... wanna say it started with a T maybe but not sure. Smokey tried to bite him in the endzone one time around '95, '96 maybe. Used to be a pic of it everywhere.
ETA: Just remembered his name, although he was not the most recent ... but his name was Scott Moritz.

Technically, Greg McElroy was for Bama in 2009.
The first play of the first game was a wildcat formation with Mark Ingram as " QB".

I'd go back to Paul Ott Carruth in '84 for Bama

Jacob Hester (2004-2007) - he played mostly fullback, but played some tailback as well.

Brendan Douglas was a starter in 2013 in the 1-2-3 punch with Gurley and Marshall. Played every game, and not just garbage time. He help tenderize defenders for Gurley. He’s the one we called “ROWK”. Roided Out White Kid

Makes you wonder how many of the great RB's of the '60s and '70s would have even played major college ball if integration had happened a lot sooner and black athletes had the same opportunities in those days as in the present.

Brendan Douglas. Started the 13 Mizzou game IIRC.

Taylor Rank started the first game of the season in 2008 against NC State.

I don’t understand why there aren’t more white kids that can tote the rock.
