It was a meaningless game that nobody gave a shite about. Hell, players didnt even have to play if they didn't want too

Lets just move on to next year.

If it is meaningless don't ask me to pay $150/ticket for it. Luckily I live in ATl so no hotel or transportation costs but still don't expect people to spend a bunch of money to go watch the bowl game if the players are not going to care.

Was not a big game, but Gus needs to win a January game.

Yup. Couldn't agree more.

And I've been very critical of Gus in the past and early this year... but I truly believe he did everything he could to get guys hyped up for this one. He was legit running up and down the sidelines screaming and trying to get guys psyched up.

At the end of the day, the players cared about this game even less than I did. And it's hard to beat, really any division 1 team when you don't care and it's their super bowl.

because we want Gus to

(a) properly prepare the team for an away game
(b) actually win an away game
(c) actually win a bowl game

I wish I got this memo before I became a fan of CFB. Lot of good bowl games I enjoyed like when Auburn upset Larry Johnson and Penn State in 2003. There are also lot of losses I’ll never forget. (UNC in like 2001) (Oklahoma last year)
Hell I’ve sat through a lot of meaningless regular season games too. I guess for now on it’s either “ playoffs baby” or “frick it, this team is going no where, I’m going fishing” and no room for in between.

I know. I tried to make these points this weekend. Didnt matter cause Carlton bout to get paid and dont want to stub his toe. So its cool for guys like that to sit out the meaningless games.

I don't mind loosing a game if we at least play a decent game and try to win. The performance yesterday was not our best and if we pay for the entertainment we should have the team put forth an effort to not just go through the motions.

I don't care if he sits out. If I got a round 1 grade I wouldn't play in a non playoff game. If he is sitting out I just wish he'd say it and not call it an illness

I don't know. I see it both ways. If I'm one bad cut from losing out on millions, it would make me think twice.

IMO, for games that don't matter 1st round picks sitting wouldn't bother me. If you aren't a guaranteed 1st round pick why wouldn't you being doing everything possible to move yourself up the board?

This is a ridiculous thread....

This kid has the opportunity to not only change his life but most likely his family's life. Not many people will ever have that opportunity. Sit out if you want....

It starts and ends with capitalism. If the market decides that these games are important, players have to play. If the market (NFL/Draft) decides the games don’t matter, it’s a unneeded risk that private owner (player) takes on without any benefit (potentially).

Sure I hope all these guys come back and play every game, because I love AU and want to win every game. However, I won’t fault them or the coaches for a second if they choose to cash in a winning lotto ticket.

I agree 100%. We should put the best players on the field that we have on the team at the time and they should be expected to make a decent effort.

Personally I dont know what happened yesterday. None of us do. But what we saw was a offense line get man handled, a defensive line get no pressure and a secondary get totally embarrassed. We also saw out SEC leading rusher be totally ineffective and our star transfer QB make some inexcusable mistakes. We also saw our coaching staff make no adjustments and our fanbase at the game get trashed by the UCF fans.

Who do we fire?

Lmao tell the recruits it didn't matter or the people who pad to go that it didn't matter. We literally played in the next best thing to the playoffs. Why did winning matter to Everyone else that played in a NY bowl but not to Auburn?

how your attitude changed since we lost. Two days ago, you said it was no big deal if Carlton Davis sit out to keep from getting hurt because It was a non playoff game.

Now the game matters?

You were. Its always fun to act like a big dog and say games dont matter

Till you lose them. Then it matters.

It would have been fun watching everyone if Carlton Davis, Kerryon, Braden Smith, Daniel Carlson and Jeff Holland all sit out to save themselves.

Exactly. I knew all along how this game would go. Our players knew how close we were to a playoff berth. Why would they give af about that game ? I wouldn’t have either. Most of it is subconscious

I agree. Yesterday was not on Gus.

It was mostly on Stidham and the oline and a motivational difference between the teams. Gus was amped and emotional and it was obvious.
