I seriously dont think you guys understand this thread but whatever.

I detected sarcasm in your last sentence so I knew you were just being facetious. Otherwise, I would have said you sounded like a revisionist millennial.

frick Gus for his nonchalance toward bowl games though. He should never get out worked by a coach with his foot out the door.

That loss sucked.

We did not get beat by some crazy plays.

Our line got pushed around all day.

That is why I am pissed.

But nothing to be done now.

I have a fear I can predict next year's season. We look strong then throw away some unexpected game. Look strong in Novembver and then get beat at GA and Bama followed by a bowl loss.

I pray i am wrong, but closing out the season with a loss like this is demoralizing as hell.

Finally, the one think I really wanted to see was the young guys get more opportunities ... and the game did not really allow for that.

Not pissed, but becoming a little desensitized to the manner in how we lose, which may be worse...

We were discussing the idea that players who are going to the NFL should be able to sit out since they might get hurt. I was arguing that point but people said the bowl game against UCF was insignificant and didnt matter. That was not my view

Just read this thread. You were in it.

All games are important. They all matter and everyone wants to win every game. People who say otherwise are just kidding themselves

I was happy to resign Gus, because he has proven he can beat the best (Saban) and get us the SEC Championship game and NC game, which is all I can ask for. And I really thought we could win it all this year with the balance Stidham brought to the offense. I thought we were the best team in the country after beating UGA and Bama.

I am finally ready to admit though that I am ready for Marshall 2.0 (aka Willis). We are going to be strong on defense next year, but probably shakey on offense. We'll find a grove in the middle season, but doubt we will have the run game/oline we need to beat UGA and Bama on the road. StidTurkey will make mistakes under pressure if we can't protect him. We will probably finish 9-3 and lose the bowl game in order to ensure we don't have back to back 10 win seasons.

I do think Gus will get the pieces in here to win again though. And who knows, maybe the oline and Asa Martin will come through and set up for an exciting November again

I know man.

Reading your thoughts in that thread is why I detected sarcasm in this thread starting with the title and down to the last sentence of the OP: “players don’t even have to play if they didn’t want too.” My sarcasm detector literally exploded.

I hope you are right.

Again, I get the sarcasm of this thread. But the way our line performed has left me feeling awful about this team.

And we know Gus and Hand will be mixing and matching that line for the first half of the upcoming season.

No doubt oline was a concern this year. I think it's pretty obvious, that outside of QB, oline is the most important aspect of any Auburn team that that wants to win a championship. That and a good h-back, which I think we finally have in Cox. Have to be able to compete against elite SEC dlines and establish a strong run game.

Think filling those holes in this recruiting class and the next will be the key to competing in 2019 when UGA and Bama are at home again. Defense finally looks steady again year in and year out and we appear to have some solid options at QB coming up.

I wish I got this memo before I became a fan of CFB. Lot of good bowl games I enjoyed like when Auburn upset Larry Johnson and Penn State in 2003. There are also lot of losses I’ll never forget. (UNC in like 2001) (Oklahoma last year)
Hell I’ve sat through a lot of meaningless regular season games too. I guess for now on it’s either “ playoffs baby” or “frick it, this team is going no where, I’m going fishing” and no room for in between
This.

You play to win the game. It doesn’t matter what game it is.

We did, but having your offensive coordinator come out saying the head coach didn't make adjustments is frustrating. If shite isn't working try something else. Maybe pound Cox up the middle, or god forbid throw to the TE. Anything else other than a screen or KJ dancing up the gut. There's some flaw Gus has where he tells himself that if he does the bare minimum then he can get by just enough and that's dangerous.

Because losing this game really was the nail in the coffin of beating bama and UGA meaning anything.

We’d all feel a lot better about this season had this game played out differently. We’d still feel like shite no doubt. But better
