Yeah, never would have thought that a thread about a Navy vessel being named after a city in Arkansas would expose the racist on this board.

I guess that's why it is a short, even non-existent conversation. I don't count in your head or among your alters

To top it all off, the Razorbacks are returning to God’s Country to play some roundball. It will be an electric atmosphere. Go Hogs!

How will all of those fans and players ever escape with their lives, the gang wars going on across the river?

There really is no comparison. I've lived large portions of my life in South AR, LR, and NWA. Completely different leagues.

I would not move back to LR or South AR even for a significant pay raise. The worst parts of NWA are Mr. Roger's neighborhood in LR.

That’s an awful broad brush you’re using there. I personally don’t want to live in Little Rock-I’m not a fan of big towns-but there are some really nice areas and neighborhoods in Little Rock. Just like there are some very nice towns in Central Arkansas. I don’t get the NWA hate either. That is a pretty area with a unique midwestern vibe. It isn’t my cup of tea but I can see why some people like it.

I'm impartial when it comes to the state. But Nwa is a great place to live. If I had family closer, and the music scene wasn't so weak, I'd settle down here. It's cheap, has a strong economy, and is beautiful. I plan on vacationing here later on, and paddling the Buffalo again.

I've only driven through Little Rock. But I haven't heard many good things about it. Pretty much everyone on my project was there before Nwa, and hated it. And this ranges from well educated to laborers, and multiple races.

But everyone likes different things. To say what you like is better, is bullshite. It's just your opinion. So y'all really should get over this dick measuring contest. Because there isn't a correct answer.

I wholeheartedly concur with this assessment: We really need the women to jump in here and opine on the subject.

It really is nice that my Razorbacks are willing to play in verizon to help lift little rock's spirits. Especially when you consider how god awful "little rock's team" is:

little rock's team = bad

Sad times for trojans but they do represent their city well.

God, there was a time when the music scene here was so much fun. George's and Chester's were both booking in regular shows of jambands, jamgrass, improv jazz and bluegrass. They happy hour scene was awesome on Friday's where each charged a dollar at the door. George's was from 5-6, then Chester's from 6-7. You'd see Medicine Show down at George's then book over to the Library to see someone like Merle Saunders, Jacob Fred Jazz Oddyssey or Steve Kimock. For a buck each. Then they'd both be playing later that night. Plus bands loved coming to Fayetteville and lots of them came repeatedly and became friends with the locals. I partied with Leftover Salmon multiple times late night.

Dave's on Dickson was a larger venue that existed for a bit that booked a wide variety of acts. Then you had JR's, with Chris King booking great shite (White Stripes played there among lots of other alt/college/indie bands). And Clunk booking Clunk music hall (Modest Mouse played there).

Then the music scene just went to shite as the next generation decided they just wanted to spend money on cocktail bars and the whole jamband scene started to age, and we lost one music venue after another due to non-attendance.

I can't bitch, though, because I rarely get out to see music these days.

There's a few good local bands. But aside from George's (which caterers mostly to country or electronic music, though does get some great bands passing through), damn near every band I've heard is a cover band, that plays songs note for note.

Every band plays covers. But to not put your own style in it is just boring. I'd lose my mind if that was the only option to play.

It's why I miss playing music New Orleans so much.

Psych 100 says ask why NWA feel the need to defend NWA over supporting a Naval vessel in the name of Little Rock

I call it ‘lil brother/dick syndrome’

What say you
