Chuck Person was actually working against us, taking money to ensure that players leave early and go to the NBA. I don't have a lot of confidence, but what I hope happens at the end of this investigation is that we find that Person got greedy for his own personal gain at the expense of Auburn University basketball, rather than the program creating an illegal recruiting advantage.

Chuck Person was a hero of mine. He took us within a gnats hair of the Final Four, losing to eventual national champion Louisville (kind of ironic in this case) which is a lot for Auburn Basketball, a team with no history of tradition. Hell, he and Barkley WERE our history.

I'll be interested to hear what Bruce Pearl has to say and what is unearthed by the investigation, but what I hope happens is that Bruce was blindsided by this as well.

In theory you are correct...common sense would tell you if Chuck was willing to do this then he might be willing to do other things as well.

Explain what part of what he said was wrong?

It's wrong because the Arkansas football season is already over...and now it's all about rooting for the failure of other teams, no matter the type of failure.

That's just it... Nobody knows if I'm right or I'm wrong. Including me. Certainly none of the jabrones on this board. But I hope we do a thorough investigation and that we are exonerated, and I hope Chuck Person sings like a canary so that the corruption will stop. Will that happen? I don't know and no one else does either.

An employee of your university arranged for improper benefits for a student athlete he recruited while he was a student athlete at your school...

That little part right there means this is all wishful thinking.

Good chance this shite was used as a recruiting tool and you know it. Auburn may have been setting itself up as a farm league like Kentucky. Who is also going down.

So breaking the rules and the law is okay, so long as you don't profit from it?

Auburn logic.

Also, Bruce Pearl is responsible for the behavior of his assistants no matter what. Auburn gonna get torched, baw.

Notice that all these folks arrested are assistants. This plausible deniability shite isn't gonna fly.

I'm not excusing the breaking of the law, and I'm sure Chuck will pay handsomely for that, but I'm just not sure it was too Auburn University Basketball's benefit. Like I said earlier, I don't know... And you don't either.

Say this to yourself 10 times... an Auburn University employee arranged for improper benefits for Auburn student athletes.

You are 100% correct. There is no evidence whatsoever that auburn benefited with any sort of competitive advantage. But they did cheat

What do you think AU's compliance people tell these athlete's and their parents when they step on campus? Do not accept any benefit from anybody?

What do you think they tell the coaches? Do not give any benefits to any athlete!

So when an assistant coach tells you he is going to give you money, but you can't say a word about it to any body, that didn't raise a red flag? And the acceptance, unless they were working with the FBI which is not out of the question, is not good for AU.

He was paying for our best players to leave.

How exactly does that benefit Auburn?

Yet bama had this exact same thing happen...on a much smaller level. What happened with that?
