re: SEC Rant Poll - Best Trophy

Posted by DonaldDuckworth on 11/2/20 at 6:30 am
Other than The Fulmer Cup, I’d have to go with the Pulitzer Peace Price that was awarded to the guy that called more drone strikes and bombing raids than any president since WWII. That one was one point. So many bombs, so much peace.
Definitely not the Notre Dame of the SEC. Notre Dame is overrated based on past championships. As far as anyone not on the rant is concerned, UGA has never won one.

UGA is ranked high because they have a top 4 roster in football each and every year and play damn good football. I hate those frickers. But they aren’t overrated.

Nevertheless: 1980

I can tell you who it ain’t: Auburn

I’ve never seen any fanbase grab pitchforks and torches faster than Auburn fans. Not all, mind you. We have our share of sunshine pumpers that will support no matter what, I should know, I’m one of them. But our contingent of bandwagon fans seems bigger and more intense than others. If it were up to them, we would have fired every coach we’ve ever had right in the middle of the season...I suppose to teach them a lesson of what we won’t tolerate around Auburn.
Someone posted a graphic after the DK Metcalf incident the other day (when we found out the truth of him being an alien life form) of the 5-6 players in NFL combine history over 225 lbs that ran sub 4.4 and Matt Jones was on that list. Insane. There is no way that I’ve seen any football player at any level with longer strides that Matt Jones. How else do you run like Usain Bolt while looking like a slow-arse white baw?
Named after his maternal grandfather who passed away 2 weeks before he was born. He has 4 “Pix” this season, behind the 2 MS QB’s that have a combined 19 “pix”.

He has had a rough start and God knows how many he would have thrown if not for Seth Williams bailing him out. He shows some great flashes though...new OC, no Spring has got to be rough but many other QB’s are managing just fine. We will see if he settles down.
In the spirit of unnecessary declarations of obvious virtue, I’d like to also point out that child abuse is bad, you shouldn’t smoke crack, a vote for Biden is a vote for Marxism and you really shouldn’t beat up random old people.
I don’t disagree. Awarding the pirate turned out to be premature. It’s not too late for Gus to make a run at it.

They are in the ACC. Spencer Pennington could engineer an undefeated season with that roster in that conference.
Easy for me...LSU is my 2nd favorite team: Great program, cool unis, always plays us tough as nails...old school, physical ball...last but not least, 4 notes is awesome and iconic.

I’m always down for somebody busting Auburn chops if it’s funny. This was just weird and cringy...creative though so I’ll call it 3/10.
I don’t even know why this is speculation… The execution of the grand Auburn conspiracy was flawless last Saturday… Why fix what is not broken?

1. They will not call any penalties on LSU at all… Or maybe just one 5 yard penalty that doesn’t matter at all. They will allow LSU to hold all day.
2. They will take at least one auburn touchdown off the board with a bad call
3. They will extend at least two LSU drives by Ignoring LSU penalties.
4. Now that they have lulled us all to sleep with their reverse psychology wizardry, the true nucleus of their genius plan will hatch: there will be some sort of bizarre/obscure turnover related play that will go Auburn’s way... But they won’t be held accountable… That’s the genius in their plan of giving so many other breaks to LSU.

And there you have it… Wrapped up and tied with a bow. Their malevolence, and insidiousness knows no bounds.
1. The game was in Oxford
2. Bad calls had already resulted in a 10-14 point swing in OM favor by the time this bad call happened.
3. Are we forgetting who Lane Kiffin is? Now because he supports the narrative, he is a beacon of light, truth, integrity and fairness? Lol. Ok
4. Auburn won. No amount of pissing and moaning is going to change that. But I tell you what, give us back the KO return TD that got taken off the board and take the OM TD off the board where the blatant hold wasn’t called and I’m sure we will all be fine with OM getting this one bad call overturned. And Auburn still wins. Heck, you can even keep the fact that OM, in a pro-Auburn officiated conspiracy, was called for a grand total of 1 penalty for 5 yards on OM. I’m sure that was part of the strategy.

re: DK Metcalf: Holy shite

That was absolutely insane. Metcalf looked 30-40% bigger...than that NFL corner who was WAAAAY out in front...and ran him down like he was standing still. “Not human”. Agreed

I would never bet against Auburn...but I have never been more tempted.

re: Is Larry Munson the GOAT?

He's fantastic...and although he didn't have the legendary career tenure and all, I think Rod Bramblett was up there in talent.

I'll say though, I thought the "hobnail boot" call was just weird and don't understand how it's so famous. It just seems cringy to me. Seems like he should have just continued and it would have gone something like this:

"We just stepped on their face with a hobnail boot and broke their nose. We just crushed their face. We electrocuted them with a cattle prod and shoved a red hot poker up their arse. We ran them over with a combine harvester, sent them thru a wood chipper, and mailed their body parts to Rosie O'Donnell. We stuck their face in a Howitzer cannon and pulled the trigger. We brought them a martini that was actually sulfuric acid and when they asked for water, dropped napalm on their head"
Now more than ever, you can't be too careful in these uncertain times. We still don't know everything there is to know. It's important that we listen to the experts and the NCAA are the experts. Remember, we are all in this together.

What did he say exactly? Link?

btw-I'm pretty sure the OP is being critical of Herbstreit's white guilt-gasm, not his recent comments, whatever they are.
