Chubb’s worst games tend to come when he isn’t used much

We need to feed this kid the rock.

I want Chubb to get every chance possible to increase his draft stock. I really like the kid and want him to go buy a Bentley like Gurley did.

I have no doubt he will be able to.

He is prone to eventually busting one to the end zone.
Ride that horse if you are Chaney...except, Chaney loves to get cute with his weapons.

Granted, I don't want them to burn him out like HBC did Lattimore, but damn. We've got enough RBs to have someone go into the 4th fresh.

Burn him out? He has 10 games left in college and has missed almost a full season with injuries over the last 4 years.
Ride him as far as possible imo.

Exactly.
He is a top 5 back in college football. He should get at least 20 touches a game. Michel and Swift are good, but arent anywhere near Chubb's level.

Chaney doesn't have to complicate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
QB hand-off to #27.
He wants to add marshmallow fluff and bananas (e.g. having a non-running QB run a read option when the whole house knows he's not gonna keep it).
If he gets sick of grape jelly-#27 then change to strawberry- Sony or orange marmalade - Swift, etc...

Both are on chubbs level.

People tend to forget just how dominant Chubb was his freshman and sophomore years. He looks healthy now, and just needs the ball and the big stage to prove it.
If he is truly back, I dont think there is a back(maybe Barkley) that comes close to his talent.

Really hope we can run the ball against that defense. They're legit.

I don't really think this is an accurate statement. Michel has grown tremendously in his time here. Given the limitations of our interior line and what it has meant for our offense, Chubb is maybe not quite as good out of the shotgun which is what we've largely shifted to. Chubb is easily the best back out of a traditional run set, still has amazing vision and patience... the issue right now is patience ends up getting him contacted in the backfield as the interior collapses too often.
I think 20 touches for Chubb is great if we've got enough touches to go around, but his carries seem to have higher variability than Michel (I'll leave out Swift who is great but still has to grow to catch up IMO). An average of 5 yards or more is great, but if that's 30 and then a bunch of 1-3 yard plays over how ever many carries, I'll take the guy who's averaging 5 but falls forward for 3 yards minimum nearly every carry for more touches... consistent positive yardage is damn near a requirement for this offense. Freshman QB - managing 1st and 2nd downs to keep us in no worse than 3rd and manageable is important. I'm actually curious what Fromm's 3rd down conversion percentage is on plays where less than 5 yards vs more than 5 yards to go. May go look it up but have to imagine it's higher. Chubb commands so much attention, it's hard to know what the cause is, but he seems to end up getting contacted in the backfield more often. He's also not busting the big play when he's 1:1 as frequently just yet. Doesn't mean he won't or can't... it's just not happening consistently yet this season.

I think they are much closer to each other now in the post injury Chubb era, certainly. Sony has grown a lot as a back while Nick had had to work his arse off just trying to get back to where he was...may still not be there, and may never be.
Pre-injury, a 100% Chubb was better than 150% Sony, and only people with a pro-Sony agenda would argue otherwise.

Sure. But we're not talking about hopping in a time machine to give Nick 20+ carries a game... right *now*, it would be a poor decision until the interior of the line starts blocking better and/or we feel more confident in Fromm's ability to take more snaps under center IMO.

Oh, I know fib...that argument raged back then, and I just couldn't see it.
Today, I do think that because JC doesn't believe in using the I-formation or even a traditional single back set more than 2-3 times a game, Sony is more effective because he just hits the hole and goes and uses his ability in space to get extra yards, whereas Nick tries to patiently wait for his blocks to materialize and then uses his vision to make the most out of the run. The problem is, running out of shotgun and pistol with a single offset back doesnt play well to Nicks strengths and he gets hit behind the line a lot.
That being said, I think Nick is also a back that needs to warm up. He has to get a lather going to be at his best and for whatever reason, coach cheeseburglar just doesn't believe in letting him get that lather.

I agree. He gets better and wears down the defense. It's a win/win

Chubb is one of my five all-time favorite Dawgs. That being said I'd rather Swift get a few more touches

People fail to realize some of the situations that Chubb isn't getting touches (tight ends too).
To get touches, you have to get first downs. Without first downs, no one gets touches.
Instead of counting touches, I prefer to look at percentages of plays. It paints a little bit better picture (if we are way behind in the second half, I know we are slinging it. If there is under 2 minutes on the clock, we aren't running unless we expect a 1st down). Still... percentages make more sense under most circumstances.
