He is 4-23 all time with 3 of those wins coming in consecutive weeks in 2014.

Mullen is 1-21 outside of 2014 vs Top 15 teams. That one win was 8-4 Texas A&M in 2016.

Dan's about to do it again if Auburn can get their act together over the next two weeks.

But he would be Pennywise the clown to opposing teams if he coached at a big 6 school...

That's all? I'm pretty sure Sumlin already had that many as A&M HC. #1 BAMA, #3 AUB, #9 UT, #11 OU all come to mind. Sumlin is about to be fired and Mullen is your GOAT coach.

MSU is a different program since 2014. 2nd most wins in SEC for a West team. Did you expect Mullen to fix the Croom Shitastic overnight?

The fact that some people actually believe that Mullen would be a great coach at a powerhouse school is beyond me.

I don't care how bad the situation was that Mullen inherited - going 4-23 against the top 15 (with 3 of those wins being against overrated teams) is terrible.

How many wins does he have against teams who finished in the top 25, like two?

Record is skewed

0-8 vs Bama who has been the most dominant team in American over the past 8 years.

He's 2-32 against teams that finished ranked, only beating #20/#21 Ole Miss in 09 and #22/#23 Auburn in 2014...

Looks and sounds bad. But as a alumni that attended during the Croom years, I don't give a shite what the records are. He's been tremendous for State all things considered.

Going to be more and more of them as he's able to pull in more talent. Improvement is a slow process for schools that are outside the traditional top ~15.

He's starting to land some top defensive and now QB talent due to the track record of producing big time NFL guys. Just need to be sure and keep him around to keep the ball rolling.

The truth is any non traditional powerhouse is lying to themselves if they think they can quickly built into a top tier program. Sadly you have to work toward getting there in 20 years, not tomorrow. Build for the future and don't compromise the process.

Building quick is a good way to have the NCAA come calling, just ask the OM posters.

SummerOfGeorge: Where do you get you info on stats like this? I used to use the CFBTrivia website, but that site hasn't been working for several months. Any other good sites at running reports of team results over specific periods of time?

He also had them ranked #1 with like 3 games left in the season a few years back. I don't think any coach they've had has ever done that.

The three he beat in 2014 were all 8-5 teams. Never seen a team jump from unranked to #1 in three weeks by beating three 8-5 teams in a row, two of which didn't finish in the final top 25, while the other finished #22.

The question I would like to ask Dan Mullen is winning worth turning Mississippi State into thug university? I mean come on Leo Lewis is a role model and Jeffrey Simmons who is on YouTube punching a female in the face not once but five times is a role model? Give me a break. Why isn't the press outraged over this? Those two thugs shouldn't be on anyone's team, much less on Mississippi State.
