NCAA letting school off

1 UNC / ACC
0 Rebs / SEC

Not like it is looking good in Oxford, but damn, cheating for 30 years at Chapel Hill and still no convictions. Maybe the Rebs need to steal the Tar Heels NCAA playbook.

It's clear that as long as your cheating involves only massive academic fraud that you're fine in terms of the NCAA. UNC won at least 1 national championship in basketball with multiple players who may have been ineligible and it is absolutely criminal.

Academic scandals, rape, sexual assault are all okay with the NCAA. But you better not couch surf at a coaches house or they'll throw max punishment on your program.

I won't make excuses for the things our school did. We cheated, and we deserve some punishment, but I understand some of the Ole Miss fans thinking the NCAA is going after us. Compare our situation to UNC's, Miami, Baylor, and Penn State. We don't deserve a worst punishment than at least two of those schools.. And before you down vote explain to me why Ole Miss deserves worse?

Paying players threatens the legitimacy/need of the NCAA, academic fraud only threatens the value of the degree from the institution. The NCAA is self-serving.

Have they made a final ruling in the UNC case?

In b4 LSU fan mentions Alabama and presents Instagram pics of players standing beside an $18,000 car as "evidence."

I think the NCAA is more lenient on programs with at least one true National Championship.

The ncaa muffed the unc and Miami investigations leading to revised standards during such.

Ole miss is the first team to get caught and continue the same illegal behavior since SMU in the 80s. Ole Miss is getting off light of the program doesn't recieve a similar punishment with the amount of level 1 violations they were found to have committed.

ACC and Big Ten are Teflon. OSU got away with murder, multiple times. NCAA is a big joke, always was.

UNC should be hammered far harder than the Ole Miss. UNC is part of sweeping academic fraud.

Maybe I am a dick, but when I look to hiring someone, and they have NC as their school, I ask if their degree is legit -- then they have to really prove to me they didn't just get a free grade.

Basically, don't trust anyone with UNC degree as they have had 15+ years of academic fraud.

The NCAA is not a legal institution, not a governing body. They are a private entity providing marketing and legal cover for the P5 conferences. They have no authority other than what they are given by the conferences and can be cut loose at any time.

The NCAA cares about what the conferences tell them to care about and that is anything involving money. They don't concern themselves about academic fraud, or sexual assault, etc. cause the conferences are not concerned about it. If MS brought in the kind of bucks that bama or UNC brought in and could keep things quiet so nobody got a public black eye they wouldn't be getting hammered either.

It's all about the money fellas. Capitalism. Merica goddammit

Your infractions only matter if you start beating Alabama.

People don't want to hear this, but the NCAA can't govern UNC's curriculum.

This is as good a reason as any to disband the NCAA. It's a corrupt, broken institution and needs to be dissolved.

why do people keep saying the NCAA let UNC slide? They just received their 3rd NOA in December. No one knows what the NCAA is going to do to them, so it's a little premature to say they're letting them slide
