Am told Nick Saban is expected to consider in-house candidates for #Alabama OC job: Sark, Mike Locksley & Billy Napier.

Wow. FAU's administration is genius to make this move. He should do a great job in C-USA.

It's a home run hire for them 100%

I never saw him as a long-term thing. I want to think he was here to update/upgrade our offense and he has completed his mission.
Not only this, but the fact that he's willing to go to a low profile program and take a huge pay cut when there's at least one great paying and high profile OC position available shows just how badly Kiffin wanted to be a head coach.
Also, I don't know who gave him the advice (or if he decided it himself) to take this job over working for O but it was without a doubt the right choice. This latest round of missed chances really showed just how bad his reputation still is among administrators. If he ever wants to be in the big time again, he's got to show he can go solo. That's not going to happen at LSU - and if he took that job the second things went badly (and I think they will), he would be the first one to get slung under the bus.

Locksley was the name I heard before lane was hired at HC. Qb development is huge for Saban. However he doesn't like promoting from within but Locksley coached QBs at Illinois '06-'08 and at Maryland '12-'15.

So no QBs that have actually done well at the collegiate or NFL level.

No freakin way. I have it on good authority it's LSU or bust.

Can't let it go? Not what I maintained either. Situation changed about 100 times.

So, if Saban doesn't promote Sark to OC, will he go to LSU or maybe follow Kiffin?

I thought I had heard he was going to interview at LSU. No idea otherwise.

I think the main point people were trying to make was that Lane was not coming back to Alabama no matter what. All the good HC gigs filled up and the LSU OC job was just sitting there open the whole time so that was the speculated landing spot. I don't think many people thought he would take the FAU job over LSU considering the pay cut and perception of that program, but I'm glad he did as opposed to heading to Baton Rouge.

For sure. I know that a lot of UA fans don't like Kiffin, but I do because he's helped us win a lot of games and championships. For that reason, I would like to have seen him get a better job, but oveall, I'm just happy he's not going to LSU. At least, I hope this is ....The Final Answer. It's been a crazy ride.

He has to be being forced out. He's taking a huge pay cut. Being reported that he may only make 600k.
Why does that mean he's being forced out? What has become obvious over the course of the last week is that if he wants to be a HC again, he has to start somewhere at the bottom of the barrel. That's what taking the FAU job at 600K...and it will be more than that...means.

I think CNS will help Lane in the transition to FAU. This kind of help is priceless.
Sabans scraps are still prime cut.
A couple of 6 win seasons and 8 win season later he is out to something way better.

Which was never anything more than speculation by fans and media people like Finebaum. We'll never know...but how many of those speculating he was leaving even had a clue that Saban was going to hire him when he first visited Tuscaloosa?

Half his dough walked out the door with Layla. Plus he probably has an alimony and child support nut to make each month.
but yeah, like $600K plus perks is some shitty deal. LOL
