Will he remain with the team through the bowls?

Wonder how Saban has been preparing the offense for this. He obviously knew he was interviewing. Saban kind of stayed out of the offense with Lane around right? I know there are multiple shots of him flipping out but he wasn't heavily integrated right?

Puzzling move, but good luck?

Would be surprised if he left now before the season is complete. I think FAU benefits way more from his publicity in the playoffs, than his missed time on campus. I am sure that job can wait and he will be 95% focused on this one.

He has to be being forced out. He's taking a huge pay cut. Being reported that he may only make 600k.

He had to find a home. That's what has been portrayed since day 1. Whether it was as a HC or and OC somewhere.

This worked perfectly. Kiffin gets a head coaching job away from us and he doesn't go to LSU.

Does anyone really know why? Saban not get along with him?

Pete Thamel ?@SIPeteThamel 3m3 minutes ago With Lane Kiffin to FAU, the Bama OC job brings much intrigue. Will Saban promote Steve Sarkisian? Mike Locksley? Could Sark go to LSU?

I never saw him as a long-term thing. I want to think he was here to update/upgrade our offense and he has completed his mission.

Heard lots of things, mainly his loose cannon attitude. He was a ticking time bomb and had all kinds of rumors with him around town. I personally think it would have eventually came crashing down.

Here's my guess. Saban graduates coaches just like football players. Kiffin has been a head coach he just needed some career rehabing. Saban and Alabama did that and at some point its time for him to venture out on his own and sink or swim. He missed out on some HC positions last year and then again this year. At some point you just have to put pride aside and take a "lesser" position to prove you have what it takes for a bigger one. He will do a 3 year stint at FAU and if he proves himself move up again.

Yeah...I did not want him at LSU. Whatever else you want to say about Kiffin, the guy knows offense. If LSU could get their offense together, that would be a problem.
