You will have a great experience. Walk around and you will be invited to eat and drink with Tiger fans. Once the game starts you may be harassed some but tailgating will be a blast. Enjoy your trip to Tiger Stadium

The ideal LSU road trip would be spending Friday night in New Orleans and then heading to BR early on Saturday, particularly if it's a night game and you have all day to tailgate.

For your time on campus, take a look at the linked map:
Campus Gameday Map with Parking

Aside from the purple lots on the map, I have two suggestions for parking:
1) North of campus by Hart Lot. It's a bit sketchy but better for post-game traffic and buying mixtapes.
2) East of campus by Lod Cook Alumni Center. Sorority row along W Lakeshore Dr is worth a stroll/drive. Binoculars are frowned upon.

Once parked head towards the Parade Grounds. This is a big open area with plenty of tailgates and 140 lb 18 year olds passed out on couches. Nearby you can check out:
1) Northgates (Chimes and Highland) - Grab a drink at Chimes and watch your fellow Big 10 teams play the early games on the projector at Varsity. Also the closest gas station is nearby if you need to buy a foam cooler, beer, ice... Farther North you go the sketchier it gets though.
2) Law School - East of Parade Grounds with big columns
3) Bookstore - Cool off and buy a pair of LSU crocs so you fit in
4) Student Union - Step into a late 60s time warp south of the Parade Grounds
5) Memorial Tower - West of Parade Grounds; please note it's taller than Bama's Saban themed bell tower

Continue towards the stadium past the Parade Grounds to check out the Quad. This is the beautiful and historic core of campus known as the setting of classic films such as Pitch Perfect.

Past the Quad, ignore Lockett. It's a very ugly building where freshmen calculus tests are administered in a flooded basement. Instead go to the nearby Indian burial mounds and ponder its significance until your bourbon buzz kicks in and you forget where you are. The outdoor Greek amphitheater is not far either. The bands march to the stadium starts here. They stop at the roundabout at the top of the "hill" before running into the stadium hours before everyone else.

Continue down the hill towards the stadium. PMAC basketball arena/spaceship is on the right. Mike the Tigers habitat is nearby. Check it out.

From there, walk around the stadium, bask in the "tigerbait" chants and head in for pregame.

About how old is your group? I can help with what restaurants/bars/tailgating spots to go to depending on that.

I'm not actually going to get to go. Which makes me sad. Other commitments.

I just started the thread because a lot of Mizzou fans are going, and there were several threads on different boards. I thought this would be easier, keep it all in one spot.

Of people I know who are going, they range from just out of college, to in their 50s.

Don't do Walk-On's

Come to the tailgate hungry, I never had a problem with being "Tiger baited" and then given a full plate of food

-Wear comfortable shoes and clothes as you'll be doing a lot of walking.

-Be sure of the routes you need to take before and after the game at traffic can be screwy and it's easy to get confused if you haven't travelled on campus.

-don't go to walk ons or any of those really commercial places. The chimes is a really good restaurant to eat at if you're not intending on attending a tailgate.

-the campus is pretty big so printing out a map of everything might make things easier

-the band comes down the hill after the players do. Players come down around 2-3 hours before kickoff. The tiger band is a sight to see up close and personal.

-Mike doesn't come out on game days anymore so you'd have to see him in his habitat a day before which is on the north side of tiger stadium

-bring alcohol from local Missouri places and distribute them to a tailgate if you want to get in their good graces quickly

-wear your colors proudly

-chair backs aren't allowed in tiger stadium anymore

-you can bring a small bag but it must be clear. LSU sells clear bags themselves but they're probably more expensive

-the Missouri team will arrive on buses and will enter the stadium from the east side. If you wanna watch them enter you need to be on the east side north of where they put the barriers up.

-bring binoculars if your seats are high up in the uppers.

That...is a great suggestion. Missouri has some great microbreweries and wineries. Someone going from Columbia should take growlers from Flat Branch.

Game day info, times of interest, maps, stadium policies, etc on this link

LSU Fan Info

You can drink anywhere on campus on game day so I buy a cheap Styrofoam cooler and stock it and take off walking. Lots of scenery on the Parade Grounds.
Bring lots to drink. It will be a long day. When Sunday rolls around you will wonder "why the hell does everybody play on Sat afternoons?"

Due to the events of the week I expect this to be a good energized crowd and should be a fun day.

I don't think the timeline lists the visitor team arrival but they generally pull in about 3 hrs before KO and will be at the SE corner of the stadium.

Semo here you go.

Bars: few on highland, downtown on 3rd street: Roux House, Happy's, Tibidoux,
Then you have a few on cooperate and government. Stay away from Tigerland if you are over 25.

Restaurants: Chimes, Mike Anderson's, Walkons/Happy's, those are the "ok" list, but you'd also be likely to run into more Mizzou fans. I really would try to avoid walkons though

However, that said go to the campus hungry. LSU fans get out there at 5 am toss down some coffee and a few drinks, then fire up the burners.
You'll find everything from whole gators on a rotisserie to huge pots of boiled seafood.

Some good suggestions from fellow LSU fans. Can't say it enough, walk around and have fun, you will get the ole Tiger bait but roll with it cause it's in good fun. Many LSU fans will invite you to their tailgate parties and share food and drinks. If anyone gives you shite just walk away, can always be a jerk., most LSU fans will have your back.
Remember this is our teams first SEC meeting, most LSU fans will be excited to party with you.

For all traveling down have a safe trip and enjoy the game day experience.

Thank you for all of the advice, fellow Tigers! It will be my first trip to Death Valley, and I look forward to getting the full experience that I've heard so much about. You will probably torch us. Hopefully I can find some LSU fans that will get me drunk enough to forget what is to come.

Cheers, and GO Tigers!

PS If anyone has a legit tailgate set up, let me know and our party will stop by! I will believe the whole alligator thing when I see it for myself.... :)

I made my hotel reservations when the schedule came out. Then waffled for the last 2 weeks on whether or not to come. And then I stopped. I mean c'mon it's Death Valley at night! #1 Atmosphere in College Football to see a gam and tailgate. Weather is supposed to be amazing and Mizzou won't make this trip for another 12 years. So... here we come... letting my Freshman son skip school tomorrow, we leave tonight after school for the 13 hour drive!

I was told by the person I'm buying my ticket from that I can get into the purple lots on Friday after 4:30 and set up my tailgate (modest as it will be). Just leave my stuff or my car overnight and come back the next day. Is that true? She suggested by the Law School. Does anyone have strong opinions on that? I've looked the map over until I'm blue in the face and I don't understand where the Game-Game Parking is located... it say's blue, but I don't find any blue place on the map. Suggestions?

Looking forward to it. I'm bringing some Indianapolis/Indiana Micro-Brews as peace offerings at the tail-gates.... hoping to taste some of the amazing food i've been reading about all week, but brining some of my own just in case this hospitality is just a big myth. ;-)

You've got to be really careful these days about leaving a vehicle on campus. That used to be the norm, but nowadays you have to have some kind of permit (I'm guessing from the public safety office on the south side of Tiger Stadium) to leave your vehicle on campus overnight. I don't know how much of a problem this has been, but definitely wouldn't want your car towed.
