re: LSU Experience for Mizzou Fan

Ok, i'll bite on the traffic issue.... it does suck pretty bad....

I thought that the traffic wouldn't be that bad b/c everyone left the game early. We stayed until Mizzou scored then leisurely walked back to the Law lot, hung at the tailgate watching some football.... and It still was bad when we decided to leave

you might have heard this before, but traffic around college football stadiums generally sucks after the game.... it's not a LSU specific problem

If it was legal... why wouldn't every team blast music as loud as they could during every play?

It's supposed to stop when the team gets "lined up".... can be challenging if a team is running a "hurry up" but that's why team's run a "hurry up" to gain advantage....

that's the way I saw it... the people doing the music were just "doing their thing" not realizing that Mizzou was actually in formation getting ready to snap that ball... somebody at LSU ... with integrity should have "reacted" to the way the offense was running

again.... not a huge deal in a 35 point blow out... which actually makes it a big deal.... b/c : 35 point blow out....

LSU Experience for Mizzou Fan

Thanks again to all of the LSU fans who gave such good advice on this forum and the SEC Rant forum.

Tailgating worked out great. I was in the Law Lot. So many friendly people, my son and I were completely adopted by Troy and Scott (who host near the Sigma Nu "young alum" tailgate. Their Backstrap with cream cheese and jalapeño wrapped in bacon was amazing as was their 4 TV set up. The Sigma Nu's were gracious enough to have me experience my first Ice Luge shot of Fireball!!!

A fan on here invited me to try his amazing Jambalaya, which we did after finding his Blue Truck with Dualies (sp?) Walking around we were invited to a couple of other tailgates to try 2 different Pastalaya's ... both very tasty...yet different, amazing food....

Of course I brought Indiana Micro Brew's to share with my gracious hosts... hope you enjoyed them.

It was a long day as we arrived at the parking lot at 9 am... but I must admit that the tailgating was everything it was hyped up to be.

It might have been more fun if Missouri had sent their Varsity team... wait ... what? that WAS the Varsity? oh never mind....

I have to say that I thought it would be louder, and I was shocked to see so many people leave early.... so "game experience" wasn't quite as hyped... (if the only time it "gets crazy" is for Bama, Florida, or Ole Miss... save your time trying to argue with me about it) and what was with the piped in music on third down when Mizzou was snapping the ball.... that's actually not allowed... and probably not necessary to pull such a 2nd tier stunt against us

Fans were friendly at the game... around the stadium... basically very nice fans...

Overall a great experience... i've always rooted for LSU and didn't experience anything that would change my mind

Thanks again!!!
Shreveport.... so a few idiotic posters acted cocky on a message board and that's representative of our fan base?

I suppose all of the LSU fans should be judged by all of the people I saw dressed up as empty seats during a "night game in Death Valley"...
Hey "other" Tiger Fans! I just decided to stop on the Mississippi side of Memphis to sleep in a hotel instead of in the car. Son was happy about that too... although he was already "out" in the car.

I wanted to come back on and give a big hearty Thank you for all of the posts and suggestions. I think I'll see some of you at a tailgate on Saturday. I've got some good Indy and Midwest/Ohio Valley brews for you... all in cans! The Pumpkin Ale's have already hit the shelves and we have an award winning one I brought. If anyone wants to call dibs on one of those, let me know and where to find you. Hope everyone traveling arrives safely.

I'll come back on Sunday night, or Monday and update the thread or start a new one ...sharing my experience.
jbmccul, the best way to ping me on Saturday will be to e-mail me:

mcwill31@yahoo.com

Staying at the Baton Rouge Marriott... it looks like the traffic flow parking by the Law school we send me out the direction I'd want to go anyway... is that right?
I'll definitely stop by... where are you setting up your tailgate and how will i find you?
Thank you for all of the feedback... keep it coming

It just feels so weird not to set up anything... or have any food i'm providing for myself. I usually have 3 of my son's with me so it's a little different this time i guess b/c its just one son with me.

ya'll sound very convincing and it echoes what i've read.... I guess I'll just go with it, not to mention i'm definitely not bringing a TV and there are a few good games on at noon and 3:30 so i'd be wise to cozy up to one of those set ups with huge flat screens (TD Village here i come... )

I don't need to pay to park if I'm parking in that purple area by the law school, right? Will I be able to get in there the next morning, say around 9:30-10 am? There are checkpoints and I heard they don't let you go certain places unless you have a pass...but if it's free "first come first serve" parking, how would I have a pass..

sorry for being obtuse...
Hey "crazyaboulsu" Do you set up your tailgate the night before or do you wait until the morning and just get there early?

I'll be in a Yukon Denali and I'll have my Tiger Flag up. How will i know your tailgate?
There are a couple of threads floating about on other parts of this board, but thought I'd bring this to the part of the board where I know LSU Fans are seeing it.
I made my hotel reservations when the schedule came out. Then waffled for the last 2 weeks on whether or not to come. And then I stopped. I mean c'mon it's Death Valley at night! #1 Atmosphere in College Football to see a game and tailgate. Weather is supposed to be amazing and Mizzou won't make this trip for another 12 years. So... here we come... letting my Freshman son skip school tomorrow, we leave tonight after school for the 13 hour drive!

I was told by the person I'm buying my ticket from that I can get into the purple lots on Friday after 4:30 and set up my tailgate (modest as it will be). Just leave my stuff or my car overnight and come back the next day. Is that true? She suggested by the Law School. Does anyone have strong opinions on that? I've looked the map over until I'm blue in the face and I don't understand where the Game-Game Parking is located... it say's blue, but I don't find any blue place on the map. Suggestions?

Looking forward to it. I'm bringing some Indianapolis/Indiana Micro-Brews as peace offerings at the tail-gates.... hoping to taste some of the amazing food i've been reading about all week, but bringing some of my own just in case this hospitality is just a big myth. ;-)
