10 win regular season is acceptable

Your failure is that you are averaging wins per year without taking into account that for most of the history of college football, the regular season was 10 games or less. Alabama's regular season win percentage all time is .726 and overall is .718, which equates to 9 1/3 wins in a 13 game season - meaning 10 wins is really pretty much average for Bama,
Your math holds true, but your same fanbase was calling Shug Jordan's one of the most overrated coaches for having near a 70% winning record. Everyone seems to have selective memories.

Some schools can do that. What was Tubbs %?
Posted on 7/30/16 at 8:59 pm to Irons Puppet
Or maybe because Shug only won 1 SEC title in 26 seasons?

A sign that the rapture is nigh.

At Bama it's not very good. If we beat auburn it makes it more tolerable but nobody has ever looked at 10 wins as favorable. Even in 2005 with a probation depleted roster it was not acceptable and bought shula very little time.
In reality, winning 10 games with that team May have been one of the best coaching jobs I've ever seen.

I'm not sure why someone would downvote your post - that distinction between 12 and 13 games is hugely important. Single-season records have fallen because of it, and too many people forget that the greats of the past did what they did with a whole game fewer.

Not really.
9.3 =/= 10
Frickin Gumps. I swear.

A 10-win season at Arkansas is a goddamn miracle at this point.

A Florida bowl game.

Tony, don't take this the wrong way but...you are full of shite. You haven't had a coach like this since the Bear.
Anyone in what has become a tougher conference that wins 10 games is good. If you think Alabama sux when you win 10 games then jump off a bridge right now because Saban will not be there forever and the conference is loaded with good coaches. What Saban has done in his career is unreal, even at Lsu.

Something every Alabama Coach has achieved at least once since Ears Whitworth.
Or...
Something we've done more times than any other school in the Nation

You guys had a decent run in 2012 and 2013, back to back 9 win seasons. That was pretty good.

10 win seasons aren't bad, but nowadays, it doesn't get you much but a mid-tier bowl, unless you are a conference champion and get a New Years Six bid.
If you are a power program with rich tradition, but have been lackluster for several years, 10 wins is acceptable and a step in the right direction if it gets you more in seasons to come.
10 win seasons in the 80s and 90s were huge as the average season length was 12 games, sometimes 13.
10 win seasons today are still nice, but the standard for programs who have established a consistent winning tradition should be 11 wins.
I think 10 wins should happen before bowls, for those who are immune to consistently winning.
The last 10 win team to win a national championship was USC in 1974 (10-1-1).
The last 11 win team to win a national championship was 1990: Colorado (11-1-1) and Ga. Tech (11-0-1)
From now on, national championship teams will be no less than 12 wins.
Power 5 programs that should celebrate 10 win seasons at this juncture:
Boston College
NC State
Syracuse
Wake Forest
Duke
North Carolina
Pittsburgh
Virginia
Baylor
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
TCU
Texas Tech
Indiana
Maryland
Rutgers
Illinois
Minnesota
Northwestern
Purdue
California
Oregon State
Washington
Washington State
Arizona State
Arizona
Colorado
UCLA
Utah
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Arkansas
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Texas A&M
