Maybe.

We ceased playing for 40 years over ticket sales. We are fine with playing other teams for a while.

This rivalry isn't complicated...it's just really really tense sometimes. Things happen.

I would love a break from their fans, but I absolutely love the games. But for them, you can't have one without the other because their fan base is pure white trash...while their football team is pure gold as far as what you would want your own football program to be.

Gold and pennies don't mix.

Sure. Who would our permanent west team be though? LSU? Sign me up. UGA, UF, UT and LSU every year to give up bama?

Damn right!

Bama - absolutely not......they love to remind AU who the real king of the state is.

AU - Well it's not even our best rivalry and being in the East makes more logical sense and what not.

If Auburn stopped playing in the Iron Bowl, people around the country wouldn't even know what state Auburn was in 10 years from now.

If Auburn gave up the iron bowl they would quickly become as irrelevant as Missisippi State. The one thing keeping that football program alive is the iron bowl. Thank God we are such a great program and give them a little time on national tv.

ITT: Auburn fans throw in the towel and beg for an easier schedule.

Auburn would be agreeable to just about anything to not have to face Alabama/Saban every year.

Auburn is desperate not to have to play LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, and A&M every year.

The lie about the rivalries is their cover. UF was a pathetic team for the first 100 years of the program, and the AU-UT rivalry was only an annual thing for about 35 years (late 50's to 1991) and most of the home games were in Birmingham.

They are terrified of trying to continue to compete in the west.

There is no reason for Auburn to move to the east. Not sure why everyone wants to

Moot point. State government wouldn't allow the game to be stopped again.

Hell no. The iron bowl is the greatest rivalry in college football. It's something our entire state looks forward to every year. Does it cause a few dumb fricks to harass one another? and even dumber fricks to make the news on occasion? Yes. But us normal people love and enjoy it. Anyone that wants to just stop playing the iron bowl can eat shite

It makes sense to swap auburn to the east and mizzou to the west due to geography.

The iron bowl could still be factored in if anyone cared enough.

Make it happen, or not,..... I'm just glad someone finally proposed this... new offseason material and all......

Right now, Auburn needs Alabama to visit every other year so AU can sell all of their football tickets. That could change over time if Auburn could figure how to win again like they did in the Dye days.

Yes.

Would much rather play Florida and Tennessee again every year instead of teams like aTm and Arkansas.

Does anyone here with two functioning brain cells to rub together actually believe that this is the work of a program that would be happy for the rivalry to go away...the blabbering of barners on the rant notwithstanding?
