It'll cost A&M 15 M to get out of the Sumlin contract after next year. Unless he really shits the bed then I think he'll be back.
All they need is another video of players carrying his drunk arse back to his room and A&M won't owe him a penny. Sumlin better be very careful this year, especially if he loses 5+ games.

Publicly he is not. I have a business partner that is involved in State's athletic scene that claims that there is rumbling going on right now due to Mullen's recent lack of success versus Freeze on the field and on the recruiting trail. They see OM really stretching the gap in talent and success.
State may struggle to make a bowl this year and they will likely lose to an OM team that will compete for, if not win, the west.
I think it is 50/50 whether or not he is back after this season.

Stoops if he has another 5-7.

1. Mason (Dude has flat out sucked, 2-14 in SEC)
2. Sumlin (Needs a good year from Knight to be saved, right back to starting a freshman at QB in 2017 probably)
3. Stoops (Must make a bowl game, period)
4. Malzahn (Show some life, should be safe if they go 8-4 + bowl win)
5. Miles (Was almost canned last year but with the team this year would have to likely have to go 9-4 or worse to be fired...going to be a tough job to pull that off with the talent returned)

This team is loaded.
No excuses.
I tend to agree. With Fournette leaving after this year it is time. I realize Guice is good, but Fournette is special. However, if Alabama is your only loss, Miles will survive. It would be hard to justify firing a coach with a 11-1 record.

I agree
Plus I think we owe him 6.6m if we can him this year
Kinda pricey

Butch Jones otherwise known as the 4th little pig is going to market next year.

Malzahn? I really don't know. I think his team will improve this year (even marginally) and he'll survive but I don't know shite.
Based on what I read about their Spring game I seriously doubt it. I think Vandy might be the only SEC team they beat. The starting offense went 1 of 22 on 3rd down against the backup defense. Lord knows the boogs love to surprise people but I just cannot imagine this team making a bowl game much less improving on the record last year

That Coaches Hot Seat with Muschamp on it is crazy. We want to win as much as anybody, and we might have higher expectations than a team like mizzou, but we also realize we only won 3 games last year. It's not like Muschamp will be fired if he only wins 5 games next year. That's crazy. Now if Sumlin, Miles, Strong, Malzahan or just about any other P5 coach wins 5 games next year, their seat is much hotter than Muschamp's.

Mullen isn't getting fired.

Yeah I like how a lot of the posters here expect instant success from every coach. Vandy needs to give him time.

It never occured to you State will be breaking in a new QB and the loss of some great players while Ole Miss returns a veteran QB? Even I don't think we beat Ole Miss based on the QB play alone. Is this big news?

He is not in trouble at all. I'm not sure why anyone would say he is. He has gone 19-7 over the past two years including a #1 ranking and a NY6 game. I think he is pretty safe.

Hell, last year they had Saban on the hotseat. He's dead last this year.

You really think you can learn anything from an Auburn spring game?
