It's a farce, for both the player and the school. He's not the only one that has stopped going to class because he knew he didn't need to.

Need to adopt the baseball rule.

If you are good enough, you can go out of high school. If not, you stay in college 3 years. Also, allow the kid to go to school if he doesn't like his draft position just like in baseball.

Agreed but I would even be ok with only 2 years

I agree with you overall, but honestly, how hard is it to finish out the school year before moving on. At least respect the school enough to do that. You will still make your millions, and it wont' be so embarrassing on you or the school.

John Wall is finishing up his degree during the summers at UK.

UK has had guys come back and take classes in the NBA off-season. I'll never disagree with allowing a player to go early though. They have a short, short window to play in the NBA and school will always be there. The high school rule wasn't perfect either in that you had situations like Sebastian Telfair.

I wouldn't disagree with the baseball rule. They at least should be able to get a decent evaluation of where they'd be drafted to make that decision.

Simmons has been the exception though. Been a lot of guys at UK, Duke, etc that finished enough class to not ding the APR.

I think the NBA should require that all players should possess an associates degree.

I think we'd all like to see it go that way OP. NBA has to get on board. They are the ones responsible for this whole mess.

Before this stupid arse one and done rule was in effect, I once went nine years and only missed one home LSU game. Now you couldn't pay me to go. It's just crappy basketball and you get a new cast every year or two and there is only program continuity with like maybe 10 programs.

The only way that stops is if the NBA raises the age to 20 or older to declare.

It needs to change asap. Either go to the NBA or stay 3 years in college.

No. We don't need to adopt the baseball rules. We need to allow kids to get drafted out of high school. This is America.

Telling a kid he has to wait 3 years to turn pro just doesn't sit well with me.

Simmons made the worst decision of his life going to LSU. This definitely keeps future prospects from wanting to go to that program after seeing the utter dysfunction that the program is allowed to put on the court. It's embarrassing quite frankly. He'll be the 3rd ever number one pick to miss the tourney. What an absolute joke.
