Oddly enough I heard beamer is health related. I have a buddy who was a vtech athlete, so I blame him if it isn't true. He did mention retirement like 5-6 weeks ago.

Yep. CSS went out like a bitch. Like a pissed off redneck, things didnt go his way. So he took his ball and went home.

If he had left before a bowl, but after the regular season, that'd be different. But he just quit, probably to silence the talk of him going out on a low note, because we were distracted by the regular season. Beamer is doing it right. And I wonder what he'd have done at a legit SEC school.

Spurrier did the right thing for South Carolina. He was done, it's over, and he knew it.

I think the player that tweeted out about his decision during LSU game is what set him off. If that's the player's mindset than Spurrier thought that's it, I'm not reaching these kids anymore. I'm out!

A real man knows when he should leave, but stays 3-4 more years anyway

He did what was right for him. The season was horrible, and he didn't feel like dealing with it anymore. Unless he's out there helping with flood recovery projects, he isn't helping South Carolina.

What player? No idea what you're talking about.

We had Wilds who was expected to start for the LSU game said he couldn't, cause his ribs were still hurting.

After the game we had Blackshear tweet out that he should have listened to his parents and looked elsewhere, because the defensive coaches gave him a chance and felt he needed to redshirt after seeing him play

You're right, giving us a 3 week head start on finding a quality HC replacement before a whole slew of jobs started opening up isn't helpful at all.

Did he do what was right for him? Sure. I won't argue that. But it was also the best thing for South Carolina.

For those of us that follow South Carolina outside of a message board, we know this.

Yeah-pretty rich. Piggies aren't above poaching coaches, but look down their snouts when someone retires on his own accord

that made me laugh - i guess the snouts part.

as far as spurrier goes- i really don't care when/why he left. i've thought his barbs were overrated for years but he was a good coach.

I'll give CSS credit to going to a school without a winning tradition, and helping turn them into a legit SEC team. Carolina has the potential to win an SECC. There's more talent than ever in the state, with rust belt people moving south, and it's close enough to ATL to pull recruits. CSS showed there is potential there. But he went out the same way he acted like when he was losing at UF, like a hot head.

I wonder if he threw his visor when he made his decision.

its the SEC Rant - people have to have something to bitch about.

just ignore the mouth breathers, and let them believe their faux outrage matters

How? All we've been saying is that it was best for us.

I don't give a frick why he quit. I wanted him gone. He's gone, so I'm happy.

You're the one bringing up a coach that resigned almost a month ago and still trying to make it a big deal.

That message was beautiful, you can tell he really cares.

To live in Columbia for that many years has to be incredibly difficult so I give him a pass.

Anybody that spends a number of their retirement age years in a shithole has some fortitude

Maybe if it was decmeber/november...

He quit so early, there is no advantage. Your AD isn't interviewing people, and any decent candidate isn't considering any school until vacancies are open, and they fully know their options.
